Those are the global offerings for people who can't attend Go Fest :)

Edited to add, from the Pokemon Go blog: "Trainers without a ticket to the event won’t be able to see any Pokémon or PokéStops in Lincoln Park, but Trapinch, Feebas, and other Pokémon featured in the habitats of Pokémon GO Fest will appear more frequently all over the world during that weekend. The Cheering Pokémon, Plusle and Minun, will also appear more frequently worldwide as Trainers complete themed Field Research tasks. Catching Plusle and Minun will result in bonus Stardust, and lucky Trainers might even discover their Shiny versions! The Alolan forms of Diglett and Geodude will be in on the fun, too. Beginning that weekend Alolan Diglett and Alolan Geodude will be appearing globally for the first time in Pokémon GO. Don’t miss the chance to encounter the unique forms of these Pokémon."

It's a worldwide release of the two shinies, just like Roselia a few weeks back.
Expect a mid morning Saturday start of the "5 million research tasks" to unlock bonuses in the Asia Pacific area but a different start time for the new shinies (whenever GoFest opens in Chicago - 2am Sunday NZ Time?)

I see another new version has been pushed to selected Android users to "beta test"
The GoPlus connection issues have gone, but they introduced a research bug - encounters automatically join a queued stack (no chance to see the Pokemon) and if you don't have a stack, it automatically creates one.
None of the other GoPlus issues introduced over the last few versions have been fixed either.

How did everyone go this weekend? I ended with four shiny Plusle (three of them caught at home and one at my parents' house) and two shiny Minun, plus a big boost to my stardust - back up to 1.2 million again. It was cool to have some interesting and rarer spawns, and the additional event spawn points were all live. My son caught shiny Aerodactyl and two shiny Snorunt as well as his two Plusle and Minun. I really need more storage space! Did a big purge and got rid of 100 Pokemon to take me back down to 1375, but with trading I am now hanging onto some things I would normally have thrown away. I have someone from the US bringing me a Tauros in November and another friend is trading me a Mr Mime from the UK once we reach best friends (I'm giving her a shiny Larvitar in return because she missed out on Community Day, so the costs are high!). I got a Corsola yesterday from another friend who was in London during the Dortmund "we're sorry we messed up, have a Corsola" event the other week.

It was interesting to see the Gen 4 starters on the 2nd anniversary graphic the other day. I don't think they're far off. I also think we'll get the Celebi special research shortly to fill the gap between now and Yokosuka at the end of August. Ooh, I'm also very excited about Eevee Community Day weekend. I hope they allow the naming trick to be used during the CD window so I don't end up with six shiny Flareons, lol. Or have evolution stones for each kind come from quests. So much going on. I was wondering if there would be some kind of big announcement today at the end of Go Fest, but so far nothing.

So unlike Dortmund, Niantic actually made it clear that our "48 hour/Weekend Event" actually started at 3am NZT on Saturday and ended 2.59am NZT on Monday
That is when the new spawns went live, the shinies went live and Alolan Diglett and Geodude started spawning, along with the start of the period to get 5 million research tasks in the Asia-Pacific.

It seems that GoFest was a complete success with only a few minor issues, unlike last year and Dortmund.
Now .. to pray that something like a Safari Zone happens closer to this side of the world - even Australia would be nice.

Over the weekend managed to get 5 shiny Minun and 3 shiny Plusle

Now to work out my plan for Zapdos day ...

1 shiny Plusle was all I managed. But I've got a friend who managed several of each and is willing to trade with me.

Yes, it was really nice that they actually got the time zone thing right and aligned the spawns and the quest window properly. It sounds like the only issues at Go Fest were that some Verizon customers didn't have service for part of Saturday, there weren't enough food trucks (because they'd all been pre-booked for Taste of Chicago which was on the same time in Grant Park where last year's Go Fest was held), the rehydration stations ran out of water, and there weren't enough Pokestops at Lincoln Park so people were running out of balls. But all minor quibbles and most people seemed to have a blast.

I'd love a NZ Safari Zone, but I doubt we'll ever see one. Australia seems quite likely at some point, and if I had enough money at the time I would seriously consider going.

I made a Google Map for Zapdos day that plots out a course that avoids turning across busy roads or travelling more than 5 minutes between gyms. The first nine are walkable and then there are another 19 by car. The rest of our group have plotted a circular route that they will do by stationing groups two or three gyms apart to avoid too many people all crowding the same spot at once.

We triggered quite a few new EX gyms on Articuno Day and I have a pass for one of them this Friday. I think it's #18 for me. I'm hoping that at some point I can help out those who didn't get Mewtwo by trading a few, but the stardust costs are quite prohibitive. I wouldn't be surprised if the Ultra Bonus from all the Summer Tour quests turns out to be three hours of Mewtwo and after that we get a new EX boss. My group are starting to actively avoid EX gyms because they can't make the raids during the week. I've stopped making sure I hit several EX gyms a week. I only got six or eight Regice and I threw all bar three away.

The Eevee Community Day(s) is an interesting concept - desperately going to need more storage for Pokemon as was hinted at (and then removed) from an article on Pokemon.com
I wonder how they will implement getting the evolutions of you have already used up the name trick - I don't think any new items will be introduced into the game, it will either be some research task (though I can't think how that will be done ..) or they want you to roll the dice with evolving and then use trading to get what you want..

littleheaven - I desperately want your son's shiny Snorunt, he is very lucky to get two of them!

littleheaven - looks like we keep on replying at the same time ;-)

I triggered another EX pass for Friday as well thanks to Articuno Day; I am also actively avoiding raiding at EX gyms because it is getting harder and harder to get to the raids - thankfully I have Friday off work so I can make a 3.30pm raid.

LOL!

I think most likely they will re-enable the naming easter egg for Community Day. If not, at least the Eeveelutions don't have a special move, so you can evolve after the fact rather than scrambling to find worthy candidates during the limited timeframe.

If they award encounters from the Community Day quests I am going to have to clear out my stacked quest encounters. I don't know how many I have hoarded but it's probably close to 40. I've been waiting for an extra stardust event, which will happen on Eevee day, so I'll probably be catching like mad at the beginning of that to get through them. I think it gives you the oldest first, which is a pain. Since the latest update never shows you the encounter screen, I have a few surprises waiting in there for me, lol.

I'm not sure if the current bug of not showing the reward encounter as soon as you claim it is a "band-aid" solution to the freeze on claiming the reward, an actual bug or Niantics actual solution to the problem. Of course reporting it to them does nothing - they don't update the known bugs page at all. On a usability level, its kinda handy being able to clear the quest when completed quickly, but also a pain as you don't know if what you got was trash or treasure.

I am going to need to clear mine before Eevee Community Day - probably several times during the upcoming candy rewards since every region unlocked the bonuses required.
(Not that I need the candy .. during a stardust event would be better, but during Community Day it's always a faced paced mad rush to collect as many shinies as possible..)

Am looking forward to the "distance reward" on eggs - have a bunch of Alolan and 10km eggs to clear in my quest to pick up more 2km eggs so I can get more hat Pichu's in my effort to get one over 90% .. and then more to do the evolution on to get decent Pikachu's and Raichus

You might be right about it being a band-aid to the encounter/freeze issue, because even when you have none stacked it still sends the encounter straight to the stack from which you must then claim it.

I have to say, I am not that fussed on a candy event. If there are no special spawns, then all you're getting is candy for rubbish Pokemon. There's not even much in the eggs that I'm overly-excited about right now. I could do with some more Chansey and Snorlax candy if I feel like powering up my gym defenders, but they still get knocked out just as regularly anyway, so it might be pointless. I am VERY keen for the stardust rewards after Yokosuka, though.

So Lucky Pokemon ... sounds like yet another update to allow those returning to the game or new players to get "caught up" and has little benefit those who have been playing since Day 1 and already have strong teams of Pokemon for gym or raid battles. Any Pokemon I have kept from the early days I have kept for a reason (either they are good, needed for Gen4 or have sentimental value) and there is no way I am trading them in order to give a "friend" a chance at a lucky Pokemon..

I've certainly found that even trading Alolan Pokemon for distance to be problematic and have started sending them to the professor for the extra candy

I’m adopting a wait and see approach - I’m not sure how old a Pokémon will need to be to have maximum lucky odds. It could only be six months. I’ve only kept old things that have sentimental value or legacy moves so I won’t be trading them. I will happily trade high CP stuff with mediocre IV to see if it gets better, and if it becomes lucky then it’s a bonus. Of course, the feature needs to go live first and there’s clearly a problem with the update.

Caught up with an in game friend and traded distance Pokemon I had been saving and got myself my first lucky Pokemon (91% Trapinch) ..

Still don't see the need for them ... not going to go out of my way to trade to try and get another lucky..
Though in my clean-up of my storage in order to try to have space for Eevee Community Day, I have been finding some old Pokemon that I could trade in order to get a lucky ..

I hope the rumors about Generation 4 and new stones/evolution items is true .. and reworking things so that Eevee evolutions are known rather than random.
I would hate to be "that guy" who evolves his 16 shiny Eevees and ends up with 15 Jolteons and 1 Flareon ..

I think the sweet spot for Lucky Pokemon is trading rubbish specimens of meta-relevant Pokemon instead of just transferring them, in the hope you'll get a good IV lucky one that is cheap to power up. Or really high CP ones that are poor IV, in the hopes of making them decent. I normally catch quite a lot of L30 (or higher, if weather boosted) Pokemon on Community Day that are rubbish IV and end up biffing them, but it is fun to trade for a re-roll just in case they improve. So far my best lucky trade was a 2016 20IV Kanga from a trip to the GC with my son's 2016 53IV Kanga. The one he received went to 80% and the one I received went to 96%. I'm totally powering it up to at least L30 and throwing it in gyms. I've been back since but never caught an A-grade. But, overall, I agree that Lucky Pokemon are nothing more than a nice enhancement to trading. Certainly not game-defining or major content, and I'm kind of missing that at the moment.

That's why I hope the Gen 4 rumours are true. I've been puzzling over these big gaps between GoFest/Eevee Weekend and Eevee Weekend/Yokosuka (three weeks each). Sure there are new research tasks and raid bosses, but that's BAU content that rotates routinely anyway. When you consider we had so many additional interesting events prior to Dortmund: Kanto event 11-18 April, Earth Day event 23 April-1 May, Battle event 2-15 May, Rock event 25 May-6 June, Water Festival 8-22 June - most with new shinies to catch. The biggest gap between any of them was 9 days. Since then we've only had a little spawn variation over the weekends of Dortmund and GoFest, and weeks of standard rubbish, coupled with uninspiring raid bosses like Regice and Registeel. I was sure we'd have some kind of event to keep the momentum of the big summer extravaganza going, or even Celebi quests to bring purpose to catching the standard rubbish. Instead, core gameplay feels very stagnant and I am so bored of catching Whismur and Nosepass. I don't even have the bag space to hold enough trash Pokemon for a lucky egg session.

I think the leak very well could be true, given that the Gen4 starters were included in the 2nd anniversary poster, and the interesting timing of Eevee as a Community Day Pokemon. I was sure it would feature in November when Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee was released, but August seems an odd choice. Also, they've spread Eevee over two days - ostensibly to help people catch enough for all the Eeveelutions, but they could have easily just bumped up the shiny rates to achieve the same thing. Having it on both days of the weekend makes it seem like it is supposed to be special. Plus, it's listed on the Pokemon Go Summer Tour as the third of four huge events (Dortmund, GoFest, Yokosuka being the others) which seems odd for just a Community Day. Niantic is hosting the YouTuber squad in San Fransico for that weekend, making their Pokemon Go Travel series. I smell a rat.

A person posting on The Silph Road made the following statement:"I’m at an Ingress event right now and spoke with several people involved in events or development, both about this rumor and Eevee in general. I of course did not get any confirmation, but I didn’t get any denials either. Only “no comment” or “I can’t talk about that”. Additionally, I brought up multiple renames for Eevee day and was told that hadn’t been brought up but not to worry; I asked if that was because of the evolution stones and of course “no comment”." That person seems very convinced that it's a happening thing after the conversations they had.

If it's true, the first thing I'm doing is buying an extra 200 Pokemon storage spaces.
