Need a couple of new Pokemon 1friends, are there any good ways to find them? I suppose looking out for people doing raids might be one.

If anyone here would like to get balls from Norway (and very infrequently, Dubai), as well as New Zealand. Then feel free to add me.

Is Paraparaumu a suburb of Norway now?  :-p

I still mass evolve for XP! It's the most efficient use of a lucky egg (during normal XP phases) beside friendship level-ups, and you can do it over and over.  Gotta find a use for all the eggs they keep putting in the sale boxes, lol.

Pretty much :D. I am in Norway a few months a year. But back in NZ for the summer and autumn now. :)

I see I wasn't very clear in my language: I live in Norway parts of the year, rest of the year you will be getting boring Kiwi eggs :)

Figured something along those lines.
The Norway eggs received from you so far have gotten me halfway to the 1M km badge, so they were much appreciated.  :-)

Guessing that since it is after 8am the stardust event has gone live; I've been struggling to move from 6.5 million - as soon as I get a to 6.6, I need to use some for a power up task, and it drops back down again. So I am hoping that with the event I can to 7 million and then onto 8 million.

I do have a bunch of mostly useless 96% Pokemon I would like to power up (to at least level 35, but 40 would be good) - so some free dust is nice ... Going under 5 million at the moment seems wrong

I'm on 2.3 million dust right now - I've been hoarding it since the last dust event, when I powered a whole bunch of attackers up to L35. I'd like to make it to 3 million and then maybe max a couple of things out (like my three 98% Machamp, and some of my Tyranitar). It's so expensive, though. 88,000 dust and 118 candy each. Ouch. Although, I just checked and I have 1,000 Machop candy so it wouldn't break the bank. I'd like to have enough on hand afterwards to power up the Gen 4 legendaries as they come around.

Actually, it clicked yesterday was I was seemingly struggling with stardust; a fellow Instinct has my spare phone from a time he helped me to do an EX raid I couldn't make.

Since then he has used that phone to trade between my account and his (he does not know my logon details) .. its resulted in a few lucky Pokemon that are actually pretty decent, but otherwise is a waste of stardust.

Wow, I'd be utterly furious if anyone ever did that to my account. I hope he didn't take anything you valued. If you change your password it should prompt him to re-log in next time the game launches, thus preventing him from any more unauthorised trading.

@jarledb as the Instinct players in Pram particularly organised or something? Last friday night they seemed to be every where.. every time I started trying to take a gym a car or two of them would roll up. ended up giving up and going home.

Sorry to hear that.

I am a lone ranger here, really. So don't know about any organised take overs.

There are quite a few places with double gyms where I try my best not to take over both gyms. I think its fair to share the gyms between teams. No fun if any team do a complete takeover, and not much to gain by it either.

My use of the gyms are a little extra points when doing raids, but mostly to get more coin. And since thats limited to 50 a day, there is not much use in being in lots of gyms for that.

Oh, no - it's a mutual arrangement and I am happy for the trading to happen
I check my Pokemon before I log out and confirm when he can use my other phone to log in (enough time needs to pass so I am not shadow banned)
If he wants to do anything with stored old Pokemon or a special trade, he lets me know.

Looks like I can do approx 150k stardust per day .. achieved that yesterday, even with a bunch of trading

Oh, that's a relief. I've heard horror stories of people logging in to discover all their good Pokemon are gone. I'm not sure how I feel about the new "guaranteed lucky" announcement today. It's a bit of a slap in the face to dedicated players who were only last month encouraged to trade like mad with the trading event, and will surely have exceeded the 10-lucky limit. It's clearly a ploy to lure back old players, but they need to be careful not to alienate everyone else.

Maybe lucky I held of doing much trading. Although I don't really see the sense in "lucky" pokemon, maybe I just don't understand how it's meant to work.

I think it's basically a feature designed to help returning players catch up. When you trade, there's a chance that both Pokemon will turn lucky in the process (always both - never just one). A lucky Pokemon will have minimum stats of 12/12/12 (was 10/10/10 but they buffed it yesterday). It will cost half the normal amount of stardust to power up. The longer a Pokemon has been in your Pokedex, the higher the chances of the trade producing lucky Pokemon. My son and I traded Oct 2016 Kangas we caught in Broadbeach with IVs of 24 and 50-something, and ended up with lucky Kangas with good IV. The one I got became 96%. So it's an easy way of getting a good Pokemon that you can power up further for cheap.

The 'guaranteed lucky' feature is an attempt by Niantic to get the current player base to lure lapsed players back to the game. If you trade with someone who has fewer than 10 luckies and is trading away a July or August Pokemon, your trade is guaranteed to be lucky. It has to be the player with fewer than 10 luckies that is trading away the old Pokemon for the guarantee to work. Since most dedicated players have received more than 10 luckies already and likely already traded most of their oldies, their best chance for a guaranteed lucky is to trade with someone who hasn't played in a while. Understandably, people who have been trading like mad in the recent trading event are pretty salty about the whole deal.
