I got eight and so did my son, so for once he was happy with the result - although he was a bit salty when I also caught a shiny Pikachu. Our group of about ten people retired to a pub after the event to trade and evolve, and I rerolled a L29 with my son which became lucky. Mine went to 91% and his to 96% so he was super happy with that. I powered mine up to L35, but candy is going to be a problem. Final count was seven Metagross (including one shiny at 80%) and I've got 177 candy left. I assume we'll be getting the make-up day. Given the areas with problems were thoroughly interspersed with the areas that didn't, it would probably be too hard for Niantic to just apply it to certain bits of the region. I heard that Tokyo had a total game black-out but other areas just an hour away were fine. Melbourne was badly affected but I saw a YouTuber playing in Sydney who had no problems at all. So we should get another bash at it, for those who didn't get many (or any) shinies, and there will be an opportunity to stock up on more candy for powering up the good ones. I'll be a bit more judicious about my evolutions next time - on Sunday I figured that it was better to get as many with Meteor Mash as possible (including a couple to trade) because candy can be earned whenever but the limited move can't.

I was wondering if we'd get the make-up day too. I didn't have any problems but Niantic did say the make-up day would be for Asia/Pacific, which includes us!

Caught somewhere around 280 Beldum - actual count may be a little off as I had to delete a bunch about 2 hours in to continue playing - and managed 9 shinies. Once I had 3 I wasn't worried about trying to get more

Spawns compared to previous community days seemed a tad low as there were many weather, Gen 4 and "new spawn" Pokemon around which at some point made getting a Beldum very hard (during CD I shiny check other Pokemon but don't catch anything other than the featured species due to bag space issues).

Only evolved one Metagross (my first) to get Meteor Mash - did a bunch of trades at the end and while I managed 3 luckies they were all terrible so I evolved in order to get the lucky dex entry and then deleted.

Was strange that the issues seemed to be isolated this time around - I had a 2-3 minute issue around 5pm, but that is considered normal with this game ...

My son and I caught 3-5 shiny Beldum on the 4 accounts we played with (playing for other 2 sons who have lost some interest in the game), all pretty decent (tier 3) or room for improvement (tier 4). We've traded 1 pretty decent for an August 2016 mon in each account, 3 out of 4 were lucky, and all were battle of the best (tier 1). We must have caught close to 600 although less than 10 were above 82.2% IV. On a few occasions, the shinies were in pairs.

Going by posts on the Asian language editions of Pokemon Go's website, Beldum Day is being repeated this Sunday (the 28th) at 4-7pm. Curious that they're doing it during the Halloween event when there's a free weekend with no event on (that we know of) the following week. I assume, if we are included, that we'll also benefit from the Halloween candy bonus for our Beldum catches. I'm not going to go quite so hard out this time. I'll just keep A-grade appraisals and save anything over 600CP for rerolling.

I don't think I am going to bother with the re-event; I did the full 3 hours last time around and have enough poor IV shinies and don't need to get anymore Metagross with Meteor Mash (1 is enough).

We're going to do the first two hours. Going to 7pm on the night before a school day is a little bit late. My son and I are re-rolling our crappy IV shiny Beldums in the hope that one might become better than it started out. Mainly I'd like to get a bit more candy (should be easy with the Halloween candy bonus running) to power up some of my MM Metagross from last week, and maybe evolve a few bad shinies that haven't already been rerolled so that I can trade them later, since they'll be valuable.

9 additional shinies on Sunday, with 216 Beldum's caught (I actually remembered to keep a record of before and after)
I also evolved my first shiny - a level 11, 87% Beldum as there were no genders to worry about. I then went and evolved 3 additional (terrible IV) shinies in order to have a couple with the moveset to evolve. I'll keep ~3 additional shiny Beldums, but will delete the rest before I head to Europe. Storage space is at a massive premium and I doubt we will get anymore before the next community day ..

I'll miss the exclusive Gengar raid day this Saturday - I leave Auckland on Friday night for Dubai and land early Saturday morning (around 3pm New Zealand time, so just before Gengar day starts) and I land in Amsterdam during the European time, but doubt I can clear customs, get into the city and find a raid group before it ends at 2pm. Not that I am worried - I don't use Gengar at all and eventually they will release Ghastly as a shiny, allowing me to evolve if I needed one

We didn't quite play for the whole three hours yesterday, due to my Mum expecting us for Sunday roast and we'd already messed around with her schedule last week, so we didn't dare do it again! I think I caught 10 more shinies, and none were that great, but I had rerolled one with my son during the week that came out A-grade so I evolved that and a couple of others that were reasonable, plus a couple of terrible ones for trading. I also had a lot of good IV normal Beldum, so now I have a ridiculous 21 Metagross, 20 with Meteor Mash and my original one with Flash Cannon. I'll power the best ones up to L35 and keep the worst ones to trade.

@nzkiwiman - according to Pokemon.com, you should be able to evolve for Lick Gengar during the Gengar Day hours, so make sure you have a few good Gastly that you can evolve while you're travelling. Lick is an awesome move and with the HP rebalance coming, Gengar will get less squishy. The great thing about Gengar Day is that you can reroll all the poor IV ones cheaply and immediately because they're not a special trade (unless shiny) so even the rubbish ones could turn out good. I see a lot of admin in my future - managed to get down to 56 spare slots last night, but only got through Gen 1 so there are plenty more to go.

I got a shiny Sableye from a research task on Saturday, but other than that no shiny ghosts for me yet this Halloween. And yesterday I got a Torkoal from one of the Malaysian guys in our raid crew. Slowly but surely completing my non-regional dex :) Speaking of new Pokemon, I'll be interested to see what Niantic does with Shedinja when it comes to research tasks next month, since abilities aren't yet in the game.

^ thanks for the heads up, had missed that piece of information that you could evolve to get the special move. I do have a 98% IV one sitting there with (E) for evolve when/if needed, so while not "needed" I may as well obtain at least one with the special moveset ..

Managed to get myself the shiny "ballon" (whatever the name is - on the first day) and got my second shiny Duskull on Friday. Desperately wanting to get a shiny Poochyena, Houndour or Sableye before the end of the event ..

I hope to get Torkoal while in transit in Dubai - I'll be using as many incense and/or lures as I can in order to make sure I get at least one - though it would be nice to get many in order to trade locally...

I managed 5 more shiny Beldums, a couple with reasonable IVs so I evolved one of them all the way.

I also managed to get a shiny Houndour, my first, so that was nice. And I hatched a Pichu with a witch's hat.

Anyone tried out Adventure Sync yet? I'm yet to enable it because I don't play on my phone all the time - at home, I play on my iPad (bigger screen and keyboard, easier when doing admin, renaming, etc). I get a bit of drift on the iPad and I don't know how the game would handle that if I'm Adventure Synced to my phone which is not moving. Would I get the drift distance? Would I get no distance? Would I run into issues because I'm clocking up distance while not doing steps? Waiting to see what other people's experiences are before I turn it on. If it turns out to be okay, I'll dust off my old Fitbit and see if I can find a good app that feeds the Fitbit data to Apple Health.

I've turned it on but I'm on Android and only play PoGo on my phone. Still too early to judge how well it works. I don't carry my phone everywhere but I do carry a Fitbit in my pocket most of the day so if there was some way to use the Fitbit for counting then I'd be able to get more steps than just relying on my phone.
