I ended up driving around Bayview/Glenfield (just as well as the rain arrived around 5:30pm). Ended up with 25 Clamperls, one was shiny, and a bonus shiny Feebas (would have preferred a shiny Krabby as I don't have one yet).

We started in Takapuna at 4pm and had good results until it started pouring with rain, which was conveniently around the same time we ran out of new Pokestops to spin. Then we took to our cars and drove to Smales Farm, then North Shore Event Centre, then did a loop of Marlborough Park in a break in the rain, then through the mall and to Kaipatiki Park. Finally, we dashed over to the cluster of stops by St Barnabas to spin and fill our quests before time was up. I got 53 Clamperl (I was shocked it was so many - Feebas Day was less than half of that) and five shinies, plus a normal 100%. I evolved four and got two of each version, one of which I'll trade to my sister because the two shinies she evolved both came out the same. She caught three shiny Feebas and a shiny Krabby too. Griffin got a shiny Omanyte. I didn't get any non-Clamperl shinies but, to be fair, I already have a Shellder, two Omanyte and a Kabuto, so maybe I've used up my luck in that regard, lol.

Thankfully we didn't experience the game-breaking bugged quests that plagued Europe and America. I threw out all the "use three berries" tasks to be on the safe side. My game did run very slow at times - occasionally freezing for a few seconds - but other than that I thought the event was awesome. It sounds like Niantic took on board all the feedback and made the quests more varied and easier so you could play in a group if you wanted. They seem to have improved the shiny rates a bit, and adding the water spawns was a great idea because it meant you had other stuff to do if you didn't have masses of Pokestops around you. I'd be very happy for them to repeat this format with different types of Pokemon in the future.

Sounds like you had a great event! I agree, the new format with the varied tasks was much better than the Feebas one. The only tasks I threw out were for raids, and I think I only got 2 of those. I didn't experience any problems and hadn't heard of the problems in Europe/America.

Apparently, some people in Europe who completed the "catch a Wailmer or Magikarp" quest got locked out of their accounts, and after Niantic deleted that task from America's event, the "use three berries" task did it. So that wasn't very good. I wouldn't be surprised if Clamperl became a T1 raid or was put into general research next month to give people the chance to get more.

According to a reliable leaker, the next raid boss will be Dialga and we're going to get some kind of event on the 27th to do with Game Boy for Pokemon's anniversary.

I woke up on Sunday to the news of all the errors in Europe and thought "not again"

And then hearing about the errors in the USA after the fix had me worried.

However I had a fantastic day - the rain that was supposed to arrive didn't until after the event had ended (and then it was only for about 10 minutes)

Ended up completing 108 tasks and got 15 shines (including a male/female pair of 96%) and my best was a single 98%. My first Clamperl happened to be a shiny ..
Also managed to get my first shiny Krabby during the event as well.

Managed to also do 14 Latias raids, however no shinies and no luck getting anything better than the 91% I got back in April (and had taken to level 30 for Latios raids)

Who is this reliable leaker?

Wow, you did great! That's an impressive number of tasks. We took it a little bit easy but I'm not sure we would have done that many more :) Did I mention we also did Latias raids? I think 18 in total over the weekend. Griffin got two shinies (one was 96%) and I got one very bad IV. My sister got two. I did start to wonder if they'd boosted the odds to Raid Day odds of 1/10.

The leaker is a spoofer on Twitter called Stardust Pokemon Go. While I am totally against spoofers and spoofing, this person has 100% accurately leaked the last three events - the details of the stat-boosted moves, the Valentine's Day event and the Clamperl event. Normally whatever they leak is officially announced within a few days.

And Smeargle is now in Pokemon Go - I am not sure how people knew since there was no announcement, but I got to work, opened up Reddit and saw the hundreds of threads about him.

Spammed tons of images and was getting slightly frustrated; then saw the message that you can only review the last 10 images - so made sure I counted.
2nd image of that batch was photobombed. Went back to the map, got a GPS error and nothing appeared. Restarted a few times getting really angry ... and then on the third restart I noticed Smeargle sitting where I was when I got the GPS error.

Caught it with a pinap and now I have a Legacy Move Dragon Breath Smeargle ... and it seems it's another daily task we have to complete (not that I keep up with my PVP daily tasks)

They did announce a new 2 day event featuring Kanto Pokemon, including flower hat Pikachu and Eevee (wild and research) along with shiny Pidgey and Rattata ...
Shinies are good, more event Pokemon that have to be transferred one at a time is not .. I wonder if all the Eeveelutions will get the flower hat as well ..

It's going to be fun trying to get legacy move combos on Smeargle. I got a double electric guy after he photobombed my Santa Pichu, lol.

Chrales (the network data miner) released pics of Leafeon and Glaceon with flowers in their hair about a month ago - I wonder if they're going to make a surprise appearance tomorrow? Maybe as raid bosses? Two days in the middle of the week isn't really optimal for hunting limited editions - I hope the spawn rate is good. At least Rattata and Pidgey are reasonably common so will be something we can try to catch ongoing.

My first attempt at Smeargle had me take about 200 photos, in batches of 10. I didn't take notice of which photo in the session he turned up in. Then this morning I read that Niantic were saying he can only appear in the first photo of a session, but lots of people saying he turned up in the second or third photo for them. So for today's attempt I took batches of 3 and he turned up in the first photo of my 20th attempt.

I think some people might be confused by the fact that the game saves an un-photobombed version of the photo alongside the one with Smeargle in it, so that if it was a masterpiece, it wasn't ruined. The clean image appears first in the roll, if I'm not mistaken. But others have said it was definitely a second photo because they repositioned the Pokemon before taking it. I guess it'll take a few days before we discover all the mechanics.

So we had another classic Niantic today; the event started and they somehow put raid bosses into the nest spawn pool, so nests changed and featured Eeveelutions, Snorlax and Lapras .. for about 80 minutes. They "fixed" that which also seemed to actually turn on boosted Eevee and Pikachu with Flower Crown spawns as I started seeing shadows.

Then for an unknown reason (about the time Meltan stuff arrived in the shop) research tasks at Pokestops switched again ...

That being said, I like that we have Dragonite as a raid boss finally, and being able to do tasks to get the special Eevees and Pikachu's is better than trying to find decent wild spawns
The Eevee task seems a little harder to get though.
Extra spawn points are excellent; already had to empty my bag twice now (limited spare space as I was holding on to Clamperls to lucky trade but my group has either gotten rid of theirs already or doesn't want to trade)

I'm loving the extra spawn points. I have 11 easily reachable from my house and 16 with a bit of drift. Now it's more like 25. They're swarming all over. I'm keen to get some research done to get a good Pika. Haven't managed to see a wild one yet, though I've found a few Eevee and one from a quest.

And yet another classic Niantic on Saturday morning ...

Rather than Dialga raids after 10am, we got Palkia .. How do they keep on making these simple mistakes!
We also have another month (probably two) of THE SAME research tasks ... at least the 7th day breakthrough pool is slightly different .. Niantic have gotten raid lazy of late

I do wonder how some people there keep their jobs. Seems to be whoever is in charge of raids - the EX raid distribution was bugged for ages, they keep bringing back the Adventure Week raid bosses by accident each time a new T5 boss arrives, and now they're not swapping them in and out at the advertised time. I was a bit annoyed that they've pretty much abandoned the monthly research themes and kept it mostly the same as the last two months. It's like they've already got bored with that feature. They didn't even release a new shiny with the new month.

But - we should be getting a battle event next, if the research text leaked by Chrales is correct (named "Battle19) and then it looks like an Equinox one after that. So that should add some diversity to the task pool.

So when we were all complaining about 4 days notice the the Clamperl 3 hour research day, Liz George (Global Community Manager) mentioned on Twitter that they were learning, and getting better (something to that effect). Here we are with another new event - we got 5 minutes notice of the event before it started.

WTH Niantic!

Negativity aside .. yay, loved this event last year and I really hope I can get a shiny Machop
