if you're looking to purchase one of these then it depends what you are looking for in your console...

Best Graphics - xbox 360
Best Features - PS3
Best Online - xbox 360
Best Controllers - PS3
DVD Playback - PS3
Use as a Media Extender - xbox 360

they both have different features that cater to different tastes, and those i've listed above are pretty generic choices.

Drac: Exactly why I have a PS3 and a PC, because I know anything I really want to play will come out on one of them :).

Yeah, I already explained this earlier in the thread, I believe it's better to have a PC matched with a PS3 than a PC and 360. For the simple reason that xbox is Microsoft and a lot more of their games will hit the PC market than PS3 games. So if you're an avid gamer who plays everything then i'd say a PC and PS3 setup would suit best.

Why?

Im quite happy with my PS3's abilities as a media extender. Wireless connectivity to a media center pc is great!

However I dont know anything about the 360's capabilities in this regard, so if you could point out a few features that'd be great.

PS3 is definately fine as a media extender. the only reason why i would say a 360 is better in that regard is because it was built to use windows media player and i've found it's a bit easier to set up. other than that they're more or less the same. there were a few other reasons i think but they're way back in the earlier pages of this thread which i really can't be bothered re-reading.

i would strongly suggest to anyone who hasn't read through this thread to do so as there is a hell of a lot of information in here that would help you choose a gaming system, unfortunately the last few pages have pretty much just been arguments. in short, i state something, someone queries it, i prove them wrong, they get angry, i get angry back, i get warned about my language.

Hmmn, the only benefit of using WMP that I can see over the PS3 is that it is more universal. The PS3 was designed to use Media Center.

Is this not correct?

PS3 was designed for media center expander capabilities as well as a streaming client from Windows media player.. Why you would use windows media player i dont know! there are pleanty of better programs out there such as tversity..

i dont know if thats a valid statement... you have your ideas on things and other people have theres.. i wont continue in the vein i was going to as it will lead in another ban lol.. lets agree to disagree on whats a better console

This whole debate of which is the better console is pretty subjective though isn't it? I mean, what can anyone definitively prove?

For example, one of the most contentious points seems to be graphical performance of each console. Now even if someone was able to quote all the technical data and do side by side comparisons of each console, in the end, it just comes down to what each person thinks looks better doesn't it?

And my idea of better graphics isn't necessarily going to be the same as someone else's. The subtleties that one person notices, another may be totally oblivious to. Ditto for which has the better controller, which looks better, which has better games etc, etc, etc.... at the coal face, for us the consumer, all the techno speak and marketing spin really just fades into insignificance. It all boils down to opinion and preference. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I prefer 360, others swear by PS3. Some think the Wii is the best thing since perforated toilet paper. That's just the way it is.

Aside from the obvious enjoyment some of us get out of debating the point, does it really matter which console is better?

It's funny how you come into the forum and try to dominate it with your ideas and if it doesn't go your way you pack a e-tantrum and post like no tommrow, it seems pretty sad that you have nothing better to do with your time. It's like you're trying to talk about something that you don't really know jacks... about.
A. PS3 has superior graphics.. Have you ever played one a using the hdmi cable?
B. You say the PS3 controller is better yet as a veteran gamer i find the X360 controller to be alot more comfortable for button bashing games [eg. Street Fighter etc.] and for long peroids of time [12 hours+] i've used both the X360 is far more comfortable then the PS3 controller and it requires almost zero effort to use the buttons.
C. The actual stats between the two and which perform better are right here it cleary shows that what i just typed is 101% true.

I disagree with dnb4life and Kommissar on controllers.
It's down to personal choice, and whatever controller type you have for any system,you quickly get used to it.
