Grand Theft Auto 4

The long awaited, R.A.G.E engine, Multiplayer, R18, $50 million Microsoft DLC exclusive soon to be released title from Rockstar games.

I can't wait for this game next week!

I remember when GTA3 was released on PS2 and thinking hell what a great game.

Is anyone else as excited as I am for this game?

If so what platform are you getting this game on and why?

If you are on PSN and aquiring this game please share your PSN ID.

PSN ID: Gankya

It would appear that NZ and AU get a more toned down version however. Wonder what was removed and why the Aussi censors had an issue with the content vs the UK and US censors.

Will be buying PS3 copy when it comes out..
Should be great :)

But.. might have to import from UK or US if the censoring for NZ goes ahead..

read about that here

The main reason AU censors games is because they don't have an R18 rating, only the 15+ one. So instead of bringing in a rating of R18, they either ban games or get them edited like what they're doing for GTA4

Aus does not have a R18 rating for games, M15+ is the highest IIRC.

I would be under the "Can't wait catagory" but i got a feeling this is gonna be more of the same with superior graphics. But who knows GTA4 might surpass its predecessors as it has done in the past (eg. GTA3 is superior to GTA2 & 1, GTASA is superior to GTA3 and VC)
the games success can only go so far. I wonder if this is going to be another classic or to be killed by its own hype.

You really should, its a lot of fun. I hope they don't sensor much for our release, that would suck.

Did you read the article where a guy from wellington used his own textures such as police uniforms / cars in game to suit NZ? I would love an exclusive NZ gta to be released! Imagine that.. roaming around our local cities.. I hope it dosen't get banned. Here is teh link

Thanks for the link to that interview AmooMan.

Not long to go now till launch.

Am also taking annual leave for this game. My boss was in fact happy for me to use that up.

I will also be at the Gamesman midnight launch in LHC.

Wonder if they will be checking ID at the door?

Just spoke to a salesperson at EB Games who said that we will be getting a censored version.

They did say however that its only a strip scene thats been removed, everything else would be the same. Cant vouch for the accuracy of their statement, I havent read much about it anywhere else. But assuming its true, its a bit of a let down to have anything edited really.

Anyone familar with the process of ordering 360 games from the US? Do they work ok, any particular retailers better than others etc?

I'd heard that the only thing that we're missing out on is a scene of a man getting sodomised with a pistol by Nico after his friend is forced into sexual acts in prison.

In terms of importing the non censored version, our own censorship board has said that this is completely fine.

They said something to the effect of; The product is not banned in this country. We were provided with a version which we reviewed and rated accordingly. Anyone wishing to import the product from overseas can do so for their own use, but the non censored version would have to be re-rated and approved again if it was intended for resale.

Thats all off the top of my head, so don't quote me.

And a good place to buy online; :)

what can I say but "me too", a complete grand theft auto addict here, loved san andreas.  Got a new TV and Xbox 360 for the express purpose of playing GTA IV.  Haven't booked my annual leave next week but should prob get onto that.  glad to see there are lots of people as keen as me.  :)

I think our Censor folk are pretty savvy and realise that even with a R18 rating, its going to be played by some pretty young kids so will try to tone down some of the really bad stuff accordingly ... and fair enough. But in saying that, in my opinion they actually do a very good job. People who are old enough to have credit cards and are smart enough to get the "uncut" version from overseas won't be the young kids they are worried about.

Like most gamers, looking forward to it coming out FINALLY. Was gutted when it was put back so long last year. Definately feel a terrible 2 day "flu" coming on suddenly next week.
