networkn: You never know about hl3. They got nuke nukem forever out eventually lol
gehenna:Gurezaemon:
^This. I played through all the various Half-Life games in the last month or so, and am looking forward to repeating Black Mesa, which I enjoyed a few years ago. Half-Life has to be one of the best game franchises out there.
They've added the final Xen levels to Black Mesa which is why I got it today.
Are the Xen levels already in the game? I thought that this was "coming shortly"...
networkn:I restarted Witcher 3 because despite being 50-60% of the way through the game, but with huge breaks in between large sections of play. Couldn't recall the story or combat mechanics or pretty much anything.
I am despite having 27" screens, being able to sit in a lazy boy with a 106" screen is so much better and I wish I had bought it for PS4 or Xbox.

I used to hate console games but now find the experience so much better. I guess a big screen and wireless controllers make all the difference, plus the experience on a console is at least consistent due to the predefined hardware.
Yup. I was one of those PC fanbois who used to hate on console.
There are in my opinion some games which are much better on PC (Games with greater complexity), and of course, the sky is the limit on performance, I can get 120FPS at 120HZ on a PC at higher resolutions and better quality, but short of stumping for a much bigger monitor, it's really nice sitting in an armchair with the foot massager, with atmos sound :)
Now I've got a "modern" system (which will be out of date by time I type this ;) ), I'm revisiting some old games I enjoyed but never got to finish.
So Witcher 3, Assassin's Creed Black Flag are top of my list for the Xmas period. They look so nice at their highest GFX settings :)

Started playing HL2, sort of enjoying it, am racing through it pretty quick. I just arrived at Black Mesa by the looks, how far through am I ?
It's sad to know there won't be any more Eli voiced by the original actor (who died in 2017). I thought I recognised him, suddenly had a mental image of Benson standing in a voice recording studio.
Played and enjoyed Gears 5 (but felt like it was cut short) and now into Forza Horizon 4. Loving the value I've got so far out of the Xbox gamepass (the $3 for 3 months deal) and the games have run well on my older PC. Almost considering getting an Xbox console now hahahaha.
Still chewing my way through Witcher 3 after dropping it a year or more ago, then recently restarting from scratch and re-learning the somewhat complicated game mechanic. I was really enjoying it but it’s starting to wear a bit thin because it goes on and on. Some of the lengthy dialogue interactions get a bit boring.
Have racked up about 100 hours (have done a LOT of secondary quests etc) and it doesn’t have a “% completed” stat so I’m not sure how much more there is to go. Only at Level 29 and I believe it can go to 70. I’ll probably hang in there and complete it because I like to get value but I’m sorta losing the will. Will stick to the main quests just to finish it.
I have a second-hand copy of God of War 3 coming to me as a stocking filler from Santa via Trademe and Mrs Code. Looking forward to that because it comes with rave reviews.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
I'm similar, restarted witcher after being Level 30, but had such a long break I couldn't remember.
Space bar is your friend, it cuts dialogue short. I can read a line of text almost instantly and don't care to have it spoken to me 10x slower.
Progression is slow, like you I am doing all the side quests I can find.
I don't mind much use for things like the potions. I mostly hack and slash my way through the game and use signs liberally.
I'd like more stamina overall.

Yep - have most def been skipping dialogue video too.
I have found some enemies extremely difficult to beat without putting the appropriate oil on my sword.

The ones I have struggled with so far are the spectres that spawn and heal the main one, but usually, I find I can go away and level up and sort it.
Using the bestiary to determine the right sign to use is a factor. The decoctions I never bother with.
I am finding keeping my stuff repaired to be pretty tedious, and I sometimes struggle to work out what armours are worth having or not.
I am a bit worried I may find this all a bit grindy in a while. I think that's why I gave it up originally.
I have been playing HL2 which has had a graphics upgrade. It's held up pretty well though the movement can be frustrating still.

Half-Life 2? What are you playing on?

I revisit HL2 (via Steam on PC) every couple of years when I fancy a good, simple shooter. Graphics still look great to me. Could be my Christmas game actually 'cos I've nearly finished Fallen Jedi and prior to that I was having issues getting into RDR2.
