I have been playing HL2 which has had a graphics upgrade. It's held up pretty well though the movement can be frustrating still.

I revisit HL2 (via Steam on PC) every couple of years when I fancy a good, simple shooter. Graphics still look great to me. Could be my Christmas game actually 'cos I've nearly finished Fallen Jedi and prior to that I was having issues getting into RDR2.

I am only playing it again so I can then play Mesa.

I couldn't really remember much about the plot.

Oh yip.  I finished HL2, Ep1, and Ep2 on the Orange Box Xbox 360 version the other day.  It's backward compatible on Xbox One which is great.

I'm about 2/3 through Black Mesa now.  It was very much shoot shoot save, run run save, then I realised I was on Hard difficulty.  Dropped that down a bit and now it's far more enjoyable :) I was suprised how far I got on Hard though.  I never usually play games on anything other than easy or normal, I just like the story and gameplay, usually not interested in a difficulty challenge.  I got all the way through Black Mesa until the military enemies showed up.  They were too hard for me on Hard though.

The Black Mesa graphics are so pretty.  The lighting and colouring is excellent.  Makes it feel far more ambient than it used to.

I do keep forgetting that the Vortigaunt's are enemies in HL1 instead of the friends they are in HL2.  I keep seeing them in a room and running up to them thinking they can recharge my suit or talk to me, then BOOM I'm dead lol

Ha - I’m exactly the same but don’t usually admit to it. I’m glad you have ‘come out’ because now I don’t feel so bad about not being hardcore.

One thing that I am really disappointed about when playing Half Life 2, is how BAD the sound is. Playing with a nice pair of A50 Astro's, I almost want to play without sound.

I had Metro Exodus gathering dust on my PS4 as I bought it when it came out, but then saw it on Xbox Game Pass so I downloaded it for Xbox One X and finally played it.  I was loving it, I made it super far into the story and was enjoying the whole narrative and gameplay.  I made it to the last map area and got about halfway through it, and then BANG - I hit a bug in the game that wouldn't let me walk forward, only sideways and backwards.  Bizarre, but even worse, it infiltrated my saves so I couldn't just reload my checkpoint save as it was the same issue.  Rebooting the console, no change.  Repairing the controller, no change.  My game was dead.  So I gave it up in a ragequit scenario.

I spent the next couple of days festering on it and jumping in and out of other games to see if I could get something started, but I couldn't get into anything.  Finally it was my birthday yesterday so I decided to buy Control and give it a go.  I'm only about 2 hours into the game but it's already super bonkers and quite fun and dense, so I think I'll like it.

Very annoyed at Metro as I haven't had a game bug out like that in forever, but we'll see how Control goes.

Game ending bugs are the worst. One of the nice things about PC gaming is that even if it happens, so long as you regularly backup, you can restore from a prior day and recover from it.

I have been looking at Control for a while.

So having given up pretty early and sold it first time round, I have now picked up Sekiro again and am busy torturing myself once more.

Actually making slow and steady progress this time round, so glad I did. For now. I am sure there will be another boss on the horizon that will make me punt my PS4 through the window...

@foxy38 I recommend giving JC4 another go. It's one of my favourite franchises ever, but it does take a few hours to get the hang of.

I have been playing spiderman on the ps4 and I have to say its a very cool game a bit hard at some points but that's because I'm not good at being quick I'm a bit of a button masher sometime but I do recommend to play this game if you love spiderman games or even if your new to liking spiderman its very fun to play

Spider-Man gets easier as you upgrade your different skills and suits and abilities.  Make sure you put focus into doing that.

Playing PS3 games on an emulator (RPCS3). Currently playing Skate 3 with controller on PC. The nostalgic feels are strong with this one.

The Outer Worlds and Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.  Both seem really good though my aging rig is struggling!

maoriboy:

Played and enjoyed Gears 5 (but felt like it was cut short) and now into Forza Horizon 4. Loving the value I've got so far out of the Xbox gamepass (the $3 for 3 months deal) and the games have run well on my older PC. Almost considering getting an Xbox console now hahahaha.

Don't forget you can currently upgrade to game pass ultimate for $1 which automatically upgrades your remaining balance so you can play on PC too (I did this so have 3 months of ultimate and mainly playing on PC though I do have an exbox one...
