Stu:

Playing Bordelands 3 DLCs at the moment:

Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot - Done
Psycho Krieg - Done
Guns, Love, and Tentacles - Still going

I've now decided to buy another lens for our camera kit instead of a PS5, for now (with approval from the CFO).

I might just look at upgrading the old PS4 to a PS4 pro (haven't run this past the CFO yet though!)

I will have a PS4 Pro for sale in a couple of weeks, purchased July 2019. 😀

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

So Cyberpunk won't be playable on the PS5 at it's release, correct? So, if I want to play that, need to keep my PS4 for a bit?

Apparently Cyberpunk is one of the buy once play on PS4 and PS5 games, so if you buy it for PS4 you won't lose out.

I am totally torn on whether to pre-order Watch Dogs Legion for Wednesday delivery. I have "sort" of enjoyed the others, but this looks a bit...Manic or disorganized? I probably prefer a bit more structure in my games than some others (for example I hate games that don't have at least approximate markers for tasks and want you to spend hours exploring and "hope" you'll find it) and being able to do anything and everything becomes confusing or something akin to that but not exactly that.

You don't have much to lose. Worst case scenario (if you don't like it) just flip it for 20 to 30 bucks less than what you paid for it in the week after release. But based on how you described yourself (and I tend to be the same), I am hard pressed to see how you will enjoy this game.

I believe it'll be playable, but won't take advantage of the PS5 until the free patch comes out next year.

And now it (CP2077) has been delayed by another three weeks.

I am thinking I may subscribe to Uplay + for a month for $20. It's included if I am reading correctly. Will give me something to try it at least.

AC:V is also included by the looks, and since I am on the fence for that as well....  Probably I've spent $20 on worse things :)

Interested to see if anyone else is getting Godfall for PS5? It looks interesting.

@handle9 when I recommended Total Annihilation, it was actually Supreme Commander 1 and 2 I was thinking of. Perhaps see if the graphics are to your standard.

Bit the bullet and subscribed to Uplay+ and got Watch Dog Legion ultimate edition for $20 for the month. So far I am surprised how much I am enjoying it. It actually feels pretty good. The story doesn't really interest me, but then few do, I am enjoying the activities and the puzzling with the various gadgets has been good. Vehicle dynamics are good. Hard to play when it's night time, but doable. I'll keep playing.

Edited because I didn't realize autocorrect had changed the name of the game.

Update: After around 10-12 hours in the game, I am *really* enjoying it. It's very cool. It's open world and has some filler, but even the filler can have interesting takes on missions. There are usually few ways to finish every mission and some very interesting puzzles and functions you can get.

So far I'd rate it a 7.5-8/10 and I think if you like open world games, it's a worth while buy.

Whether it can keep my attention after next week when my new consoles arrive, will be a different thing.

Hot Pursuit is also out next week.

I played Little Hope on Saturday night, the 2nd release in the Dark Pictures Anthology by Supermassive Games, the first being Man of Medan last year.  It was enjoyable, moreso than Man of Medan.  I really like Supermassive Games.  Until Dawn is one of my favourites from the PS4 generation.  It's a really clever and engaging "Cabin in the Woods" style horror game that really leaned into the decision making process of the player to influence the story.  Plus it's a really cinematic narrative adventure.

Little Hope expands on that quite a bit. It's based around the Andover Witch Trials and it's a bit Silent Hilly in that you end up in this ghost town surrounded by fog and you have to piece the story together while keeping the cast alive (or not) and making decisions along the way that change the outcome of the story.  The only bit of Supermassive Games that I dislike is their heavy reliance on quicktime events.  But once you get past that it's fun.  Great graphics and voice acting.  And a solid and scary little ghost story.  This one took about 5-6 hours to finish.  Man of Medan took me about 4-5 hours.  Looking forward to their 3rd installment next year.

So, still enjoying WDL, it's really very clever in lots of ways, but the bad language is over the top by some margin. I don't mind swearing, evidenced by the fact I do a fair bit of it myself, but when you are walking around in London and the F and especially C words are being used very very frequently, it's a bit off-putting. I don't really understand the purpose of it, it's not adding anything to the game. There are some games where there is swearing, but it doesn't seem out of place, and if there was a significant amount less of it, it wouldn't be so jarring.

Some games that are violent, my kids can be in the area when I play because so long as they aren't watching the screen, not much is going too wrong, but this game, they can't really be on the same floor as me.

Certainly looks slick on my RTX setup:

I have to say, that subscription services for games has some benefits. It's remembering to manage them all.

Are you enjoy WDL so far @gehenna ? I have to say, that despite the game play not really interesting me from watching youtube versions, the actual game felt a lot different and better.  I think watching others play games isn't really my thing.

It's VERY Ubisoft.  I didn't like the first two though hardly played them because of it.  I like how seamlessly they've incorporated the hacking mechanic this time.  It was overthought in the first 2 from what I played.  The city is incredible looking.  But the story is meh so far and I'm not really into it that much.  I enjoy that they've got Andy and Alice from The Bugle on the radio though.  I'll give it a while longer but if the story doesn't get any more engaging I don't think all the side activities will keep me entertained.
