at the moment I'm using a philips 170b (17inch) monitor

looking to get a new one and with monitors now all widescreen

 

i want something that's about the same height

 

what size should i get ?

Are you gaming ?? .. what kind of FPS are you getting ? as its just wasting $$$ getting a 144Hz screen and then gaming at 30fps 

 

Do you want G-Sync for your nVidia card or do you have AMD so can use Freesync ?

 

OLED ?  TN or VA ?

 

22" or 24" 1080P are generally the best value but if you can push 1440P content you might benefit from a screen at that resoluton

Hard to get anything other than 1080p ratio now. You'll get used to it, I did - about 7 years ago now when I got rid of my old monitor.

I would recommend a IPS or VA panel in 1080p resolution. Philips or LG or Samsung generally the best bets for warranty support.

24" are a good size these days and for the $$. 

 

Or if you prefer a 17" 4:3 I've probably got something sitting in the garage you can have if your'e in Auckland :)
