There is a "new" game about that is known as Fortnite BR. Sees relatively fun and has combined King of the Hill (PUBG style) scavenging (DayZ style) and cartoony like graphics but still realistic.

It is Free to play and is around 3-4GB. Runs on low end systems quite well.

My name in game is Scranax (IDK how I came up with that) add me and we can jam together.

I am still learning but have the building and scavenging down pat.

Anyone keen to jam? Just add me in game (The in game friends manager is terribly buggy) I am generally online 6-10PM.

Cheers

I had it installed before doing a refresh, will get it fired up again and be keen for some games.

I wouldn't call it "new" lol, it is a good game though. I enjoy the PVP (Battle Royale) and the PVE paid version of the game. I probably will get around to playing it again in the next fe months but at the moment made and my buddies are playing a mixture of Rust, Ark and the Forrest. I am also filming a series on a closed BETA simulator that I was given access to.

3-4GB, pretty sure it's closer to 17GB...

Not new, doomed if TimA is now playing though :P

I've clocked up almost 5 days worth of gameplay on Xbox One. I don't seem to be getting bored of it either.

I know it aint brand new but its been around for a short time period compared to others and there was minimal discussion here.

It downloaded 4GB of files, I didn't check the install directory so I don't know what it decompressed to.

I've been playing the PVE for about 3 months on PC (according to the daily login rewards), but I haven't played BR much since it was released.

Each weekly patch they release is between 1-4gb, confirm install is about 17gb.

If anyone want to join my NZ Discord channel feel free. There is quite a few "locals" on there and we all play a large range of games. Its handy to have voice chat when playing in a team with certain games, Also handy if you want to avoid in game chat.

User Settings > Appearance > Hardware Acceleration (scroll to the very bottom).

I haven't had issues myself but I've read of people having FPS drops, and turning this setting off fixed it.

Sorry, less than Noob question.  I'm not a gamer at all, but my 10 year old son has asked if he can get Fortnite.  I guess that means Battle Royal.  Firstly, any opinions around whether this is suitable for a 10 yo?  Next, can an individual play this, or would he need a group of mates to play with?  And if so, is there potentially any risk for a child in that environment?  Grateful for any 101 type info on this.

Hmmm, I would say it's fine, but I was playing GTA 3 and Counter Strike at that age... It's a violent game, have a look at the gameplay on youtube and then determine if you want your son playing that type of game.

Yes, your son can play as an individual in "solo" mode. At present, he won't be able to interact with others using voice chat, but eventually, there could be proximity chat which will allow him to talk with others nearby. Then there's "duo" and squad (4 players), in these modes, he will be able to talk with his teammates. He can choose to play with friends in these modes or randoms. If he plays with randoms he will encounter foul language and other inappropriate things for someone his age.

If you allow him to play, I would recommend only allowing him to play solo or with his friends. Then he's not subject to the worst the community has to offer. I play the game on Xbox One. Xbox One has parental controls which would allow you to control his online interactions. You could approve all friend requests, set voice communication to friends only, and block messages from anyone not on his friends list.

If he is planning to play save the world and not battle royale, then I would be wary. From what I've seen, it's a bunch of kids scamming each other's weapons.
