I remember using the Xbox app and forwarding ports, and knocking on the port that my xbox used for wake up signals. You can use https://github.com/Schamper/xbox-remote-power to wake the xbox up and then you should be able to connect to your xbox using the app (provided you forward the right ports, or if you have a VPN server running at home, use that to connect to your xbox, once it's online of course)
