Saw some comments about The Forest being fun in multiplayer etc..... but my question is, do the AI mobs free roam or are they locked to certain areas ? https://store.steampowered.com/app/242760/The_Forest/

I'd love a game where the AI mobs can attack at random regardless of location, it then gives more depth to creating a safe base etc.... have some banging on the gate trying to get in while youre building may give more priority to your defenses rather than the look of your base/camp.

Most of the discussion about AI in the The Forest is from the early releases 2014-15, e.g. https://steamcommunity.com/app/242760/discussions/0/522729358989471237/, but it is probably still applicable.

My adult sons have mainly played it multiplayer since 2017. Multiplayer is the most fun but one has clocked it single-player. They tried to get me to play so I watched them for hours.

There does appear to be some seeking by the AI as we saw what looked like the same tribe slowly migrate around the lake to reach the team's base. But the team were doing a lot to make what looked like a small houseboat on the lake shore, i.e. they were quite visible, cut down a lot of trees, killed a lot of animals, defended against lots of attacks.

Without going into too much spoilers they have certain spawn areas.  However they patrol their areas, and actions you do may alert them of your presence so they will watch you from the hills/trees or come down to approach you etc.

Really good game, and good atomsphere around it once you get a few days into it.

Cool, cheers.... will look into it further. Friends and I love playing Unturned but frustrated that the AI is stuck to certain areas are not smart at all ;) We want a challenge :)
