Sounds like there was enough public backlash at the warehouse that they moved their shipping date up to the 11th.
Hopefully that helps it arrive in stores for pickup on launch day.

I'm not trying to be a dick I mean I genuinely hope live chat is wrong and I can collect on the day but do you 100% know for a fact? Otherwise don't get my hopes up!
With respect, how would you reasonably expect him to know 100%? He told you his source of information, but everything is subject to change.
You need to decide for yourself if that information is valid, but I'd temper your expectations to avoid disappointment if I were you. The world isn't a very reliable place for shipping things right now.
The reality, I'd bet $100 not even the stores themselves know for sure yet, unless they have stock already, and if that was the case, I'd be betting it would have been leaked by now.
Two people can keep a secret if one of them is dead.

What was his source? My original response was just to the guy who said you could pick it up on the day, but my live chat experience and what others have said is 2-4 days after release.
Apologies if I missed an earlier post where he said how he knew, which is all I was trying to find out really.

You are going to need to accept the uncertainty unless you can find someone who works for Sony who supplies to retail and who controls release and delivery timeframes, and even then....
Everyone likes their new toys to arrive on time, but in my experience, better to tell yourself 3-4 days after release day and be pleasantly surprised than set expectations you can have it on the 12th and be frustrated and climbing the walls for 3-4 days :)

Okay I feel you're missing the entire point,
The guy said you could pick it up on release day. Myself and many others have spoken to chat and they said 2-4 days after release date. I just wanted to know if he was pulling something out of thin air or if he actually had some info and the live chat was instead wrong.
There is no uncertainty when every other retailer in NZ has confirmed they are shipping to customers the day before, and pick up on release date.
I'm not sure if you just work for the Warehouse and are trying to defend them, but there is no "ah well, maybe I'll just wait for 4 days to set my expectations" when myself and everyone else paid for a console on their advertised release date.
Again, literally every other store who advertised release date is providing them on release date. Stop defending the warehouse for their shoddy practices and misleading dates.

At least you'll know next time there's a console launch to not order from the warehouse. There are reliable retailers out there. Mighty ape, Ebgames and even JBHifi deserve credit where credit is due.

Oh for sure. I had no choice, EB Games screwed me over with their suburb issue and everyone else was sold out. The Warehouse was definitely my last option.
Also just saw on Twitter someone from Stuff are looking into it. Hopefully they get some bad coverage from all of this.
From Sony - across all launch regions, no units will be available to walk in buy in store. You must have a pre-order/click-collect/delivery etc.

Just thinking - TWL and NL are in the same stable. Wonder if NL’s approach to release date is the same - my unit is ‘click and collect’ from there.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
I would love to know when further pre-orders will open up and when those units will arrive. I still live in hope that I'll be able to secure a PS5 for my son for Christmas but don't have high expectations. He's a pretty patient kid anyway.
It seems some retailers have a better grip (or consistent comms at least) regarding day one launches of popular products than others!
I happened to be walking past the NL store I have a click/collect for (day 1 preorder). The staff were all good but less than a week out had no details on when it would be available and checking my order on line the status is "Awaiting Stock".
Assuming that NL didn't assign more orders than they knew they had consoles available you would think it would be super straight forward to get consoles to stores/deliver where you know more than a month ahead how many, when and where!

That's to be expected with the embargo on product
It's just my experience over the years that some are better at this than others!
