Hi,
My first time posting, apologies if I do something wrong! My PS3 is about 40m from my Telecom supplied Dynalink DSL-502T ADSL Router.I want to enable .wmv playback on the Ps3,do I just connect it to my router by unplugging my computer and plugging in an ethernet cable, and if so do I need a cat5 or cat6 one?
Thanks in advance.

40m is a very long way, sure you got that right? The DSL-502T is DLink, not dynalink, big difference in quality. Yes you simply plug an ethernet cable into your ps3, get a cat5e one. However you will as you said have to unplug your PC unless you get a 4 port router.
Also you might want to order from a place like cablesdirect since i think they will be a fair bit cheaper than say dse.

4 port router ? You mean switch....   router wouldnt be required as the modem handles the DHCP etc from what I remember of those models.

Nah i meant router(/modem). If i was in his situation i'd replace the modem/router with a 4 port all in one eg Dynalink RTA1025w, though of course this is just what i'd do.
