Some of the reviews showing upscaling of XSS on 4k as not great at all. Might be better to set the xbox to 1080p and hope that your TV has decent upscaling.

There was a decent in-depth review with devs of coalition on IGN for gears of war on XSX. They did a great job hitting the 4k60 mark with essentially Ultra settings. Large amount of DRS (dynamic resolution scaling) on blurred depth of field background scenes netted a bunch of performance.

Does lead to concern if other dev shops don’t do what Coalition were able to and the 4k ‘detail’ mode goes back to 30fps.

Hardware compression for last gen games on external drives.

Does anyone know / has seen if hardware compression can be used for older xbox games on external drives to also improve load time? Xbox series x/s have new hardware decompression that, in theory, could be used to compress older games on a hdd, and, increase the performance of load times due to reduced data being loaded. Not sure if this is something that can be easily used, or, if it requires a more granular approach with updates per game by the developer (to compress textures etc using their new framework).

Has anyone ordered via Spark All Access? My brother did, initially they sent him an Xbox One X the day after he ordered a Series X on the 22nd of September, which he returned.

He hasn't heard anything from them since, so he messaged Spark today. Their agent said they are still waiting on the units to arrive into NZ, none have been sent out yet.

Mine has already shipped from MightyApe.

I received the below response on 23 September. No updated since but would be expecting a shipping notification later today..

Great news, your Xbox Series Xbox Series X - Black order has been completed.

Your order will leave our warehouse via courier one business day prior to the official release date of November 10th.

Please allow for standard delivery times.

Once your order has been dispatched we'll send you a notification with your track and trace details, so keep an eye out for that. Regards,The Team at Spark

No tracking email yet. According to Sparks twitter they miscommunicated in the email (above) and will only be dispatched on/from the 10th...Bit of a mess when some Mighty Ape customers already have theirs in hand from being lodged over the weekend.

The retailers in nz seem pretty lazy, all uk consoles are being shipped on the 9th for delivery on the 10th yet ours can't even do that! They surely must have the consoles already ready to go?

I knew The Warehouse was a bad choice for pre-order... Appalling customer service and follow up. Refuse to acknowledge when the 1st batch of supposed release day pre-orders will ship. My order says 09/11/20 on it... How can other retailers manage to do it properly, but some just falsely advertise and ignore genuine inquiries.

Don't worry pbtech is also looking as bad. Still no shipping emails so don't expect to get mine for a few days but they're still not even saying stock has arrived and allocated!

Very jealous, just started a new job so no leave available unfortunately. Gotta make the dash from lower Hutt to Wellington after work since I pre-ordered at the EB next to my old office 😅

Damn you and your ability to cope with simple tasks such as negotiating the payment system 😛

What's gonna be your first game to stretch its legs? At this rate, mine will be Cyberpunk 2077 by the time the second shipment arrives

I would like to think that person working there was mistaken, but, he indicated that he would be the one opening the store, so, who knows?

You will, tomorrow :)

Has anyone heard from JB Hifi, hopefully, people will have their shipping notifications shortly?

As expected, the store did open at 8AM for pickup. Speaking to the people in the store, they only have the pre-order consoles. No luck for anyone trying to go in and pick one up without a preorder.

That payment system was hideous 😂 It was what forced me to go and order from PBTech... I knew I should have gone for Mightyape when I had the chance...
