Is anyone else having problems with Plex on Series X? Switching between accounts to launch Plex triggers a reboot. Weird.

I have BL3 for my X1SX and tried to play co-op with my friend who has Xbox One S a few days ago. First time, I managed to join his game, but he couldn't hear me and I couldn't hear him on my Astros A50 despite being able to hear myself, and the environment. I couldn't fix it so I exited, and from that point onward, even though we both rebooted, neither could join each others games. It was entirely frustrating. I even resorted to trying to plug a headset into the controller and that didn't help.

Is there a good self-test on the Xbox, that allows you to determine if your microphone should be able to be heard by other players, outside of actually getting into a game and trying it? Ie that the console can hear you?

You can jump into Xbox Live party chat by yourself and see if the circle around you lights up when you speak. Or, if you have a second account, you could even join the chat through your phone app and listen.

Thanks. So if I can see the Xbox can "hear" me, but my co-op buddy can't and I can't hear them, or I can't connect to his game or his to mine, though he never had issues like this in the recent past, are there some form of tests either of us can run, a Xbox health check that shows a particular issue may be present? I recall PS had a network test or something that would test connectivity, but I haven't seen one for the xbox?

Yes, there are a few network tests you can try in the settings app, in the network connection screen. The main thing to avoid weird issues on an Xbox seems to be to get an “open NAT”, which basically means you need to have UPnP running. My experience is that not all routers are created equal and it’s implementation can be quite buggy. It also apparently poses security risks, although can be locked down to some degree, depending on your router. Apologies if I’m telling you something you already know!

Agree with Froob, It could be a NAT issue. Simple test is to reboot your routers (and then maybe your Xboxes)

Here is Microsoft's troubleshooting guide for NAT.

https://support.xbox.com/en-NZ/help/Hardware-Network/connect-network/xbox-one-nat-error

Another thing to try is to use party chat to talk to each other and not in game chat, I feel the party chat could be more robust then in game chat.

Seems like the S is in stock on Microsoft's site and a few retailers reporting stick on 15/12. They seem to not be saying much on the X front but fingers crossed there's one shipment and they are just getting cautious on the X pre orders.

EB Games, on the first post-launch shipment. They even had one actually in-store to buy!

Thought someone might have use for this, but the series s is now on the market sold by the warehouse and using code christmas50 you can get it for $500+ delivery.

Edit/update: nevermind it's out of stock again now.

There's a bug with the latest update which prevents XSX or XSS from connection to the Horizion Live servers. Reeks of poor testing.

Seems like the series S is starting to be a bit more readily available but still very few series X out in the wild. Looking around the S is currently available at:

JB Hifi

PB Tech

The Warehouse

Mighty Ape

EB Games (In store only)

Availability is making me tempted but I know I'd regret not stumping up for a series X the second that hard drive gets full. I did see mighty ape briefly had some series X earlier in the week but that didn't last very long. Still going to wait until either themarket has a 10% off/$50 off $500 code or JB hifi has stock for me to buy a load of gift vouchers through the entertainment book for 5% off.
