Handle9: I've got the LG panel below. It's a couple of hundred dollars above your budget but really excellent. It's my daily work monitor as well as my gaming monitor and has excellent clarity and colour reproduction.

I also have this and recommend it

TG09:

Reading up on this some people talk about black smearing in high contrast games, and does it do Adaptive Sync or FreeSync 2?

No idea sorry. I don't have this monitor. Hopefully a member that does have it can give you the answer. If you are tempted to get it, KiwiWallet does 3.5% cashback for The Market. Was on sale for $580 last year too (black friday, cashback took it down to $560). But unsure if it'll hit that price anytime soon.

It supports Freesync Premium. I also do quite a bit of Photography work along with gaming and it works fine with that. Have not noticed black smearing or anything else you've mentioned. The panel is a Samsung VA panel as found in many other monitors. Looks incredible with Rocket League / Borderlands 3 / Cyberpunk.

I was trying to purchase the Xiaomi 34" ultrawide monitor on ds nz but it says it cannot ship to my address here in Auckland. Are they just teasing people? It's $539 on their website at the moment with free shipping but I don't think you'll be able to purchase it.

And yet they're still reminding me thru email that they are reserving the monitor on my cart for a limited time. What are they trying to prove?
