I just bought one from The Warehouse (last one they had). Nidec fans confirmed :)

Exact same batch as posted in this thread.
I compared the 150w power brick to my old Xenon 203watt.

203w Rev00 brick = 1.1Kgs
150w Rev 01 brick = 0.69kgs

150w brick is fractionally smaller and has a thinner and less ridged cord.

At the moment my area is having rolling power cuts, so I'm not too keen on doing any firmware updates. I'll wait till later this evening.

Thanks to guys for the headsup.

fahrenheit: If you could also identify the fans I would very much appreciate it. Let us know if you can see any white stickers on them. Cheers.

I've checked the back of the console and there are no white stickers on the fans, they are solid black.

Indeed.
Ours would have probably slid off the production line within hours of each other. There is no telling when the CSON (Celstra) factory could start using Delta fans, so I thought it a safe bet to strike while reports of Nidecs were rolling in.

If you are interested, [sacrasm]here is what you are missing out on by not having Delta fans[/sarcasm] -

And here are the Nidecs from my current Xenon model (about to be retired) -

This is why I was so hell-bent on making sure I landed a unit with Nidec fans. That recording of the Delta fans was made from one of three units I went through before I found one with Nidecs.

Thanks for that! I was just so concerned with getting the Jasper core that I didn't even think of things like that!

I wouldn't get bent out of shape about it.

Before buying my Japer I put my old Xenon through some testing to illustrate how the major cause of RROD occurs. I put the Jasper through the same testing and well... see for yourself.

Part 1-Xenon
Part 2-Jasper

Youtube is having trouble with HQ videos submitted after Feb4 for some reason. The HQ version of part 2 plays back a tad choppy. The normal version will play ok, but look and sound like a compressed turd.

Screw jasper. I bought 20gb 360 falcon for $299 about 2 weeks ago from dse, these are now currently $250 on special for a limited time but very few dse stores have them, I got the very last one from where I bought it.Laughing

Microsofts main concern is to reduce costs associated with producing the consoles. If the failure rate is reduced in the process, then thats a bonus, but it is by no means the end-goal. If it was, we would see a radical change to the fundamental design.

The next revision (Valhalla) is going to incorporate the CPU and GPU into a single chip. This redesign is going to require a new cooling system. I expect that design will be the biggest change we have seen.
Zephyr, Falcon and Jasper have all pretty much followed the original flawed design.

Ha true! I read somewhere recently (*think* it was on the Xbox forums) that there were rumours floating around that Valhalla had been significantly delayed due to the world economy.

Also, references to Valhalla have been removed from Wikipedia. On this link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360_hardware in the 'List of Revisions' table the last line used to list Valhalla with a note saying it was going to combine the CPU and GPU onto a single chip, but this has now been removed.
