@eracode Just wondering how you’re finding the PS5 Pro compared to original?

Can I ask what you got for your original PS5 in the end?

Sold for last price posted in my FS thread. There are 8 or 10 PS5 Disc Models listed on TM right now with Buy Now in the range $650-$700 but very few are selling and they keep failing and relisting. One or two have sold at reserve around $500 in the past week. I think most of the sellers are dreaming - and prices are only going to go south as more used PS5s come on the market as more Pro's are bought.

As yet, I have not noticed any differences from original PS5 - but I have not expected any, because I have only one game to look at (Elden Ring) and it's not optimised in any way for Pro. Maybe it loads a little bit quicker after fast travel but I could be imagining that - the standard PS5 was very quick in that regard anyway.

However I have Spider-Man 2 arriving by courier literally any second now and that really is optimised for Pro - it's one of the Pro showcase games with ray racing, full-on reflections etc. That will be interesting to see.

I’m a very casual gamer with original PS5 and current TV is 65” OLED without VRR, and wondering if it’s worth it. My problem is that, even though I don’t game a lot, FOMO often convinces me to upgrade when I may not really need to. So hearing from someone who’s upgraded would be helpful.

My better half bought my PS5 Pro for me, played several games and some look much sharper (Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered) but most the difference is pretty negligible on a 65” OLED from a couple of metres away.

The few optimised games definitely run smoother but it’s not been a game changer in any so far.

I’m glad to have the premium version but I game quite a lot, if you don’t play most days then it’s unlikely to be worth the money (even if you do then it’s an extravagance imo).

I think the biggest benefits go to those who are purchasing the PS5s new PS5 Pro owners are selling when they upgrade!

My son's in that camp; he purchased a PS5 for a great price from a GZ member, and he's over the moon as to the improvements over our PS4 Pro (however late we are to the party).

Warehouse shipped my 30th Anniversary controller today, which is nice. Earlier than expected as well.

It appears that at last Disc Drives for PS5 Pro (and Slim) are going to become available - JB Hi-Fi are taking pre-orders for late-Jan delivery.

If you’ve been wanting one, it would be a good idea to pounce on this because IMO it’s unlikely these are going to be widely available in good numbers.

Looks like these never eventuated - has disappeared from the JB website and nowhere else is advertising them. Hard to get these worldwide.

Seems a very cynical move by Sony - put out a new digital Pro model with an optional disc drive then fail to produce any drives. It could be incompetence on their part but more likely they’re trying to push PS users towards digital delivery.

I've never really considered Sony Entertainment very scummy, but this feels absolutely scummy.

It's probably the first time I haven't owned a flagship console in my adult years, and unless it drops in price significantly, I won't be buying this, esp if I can't get a disc drive at the same time.

I assume this is a deal breaker for some? I have a PS4 Pro with a drive. But a bit like a kindle or music, I don't miss physical media at all. Is this a bit different for gamers do you think?

Yes, 90% of what I buy is physical media. It's cheaper usually, I can sell it afterward if I feel so inclined.

Ditto on all counts - my rationale. I was lucky enough to get one of the very few PS5 disc drives that were available in NZ just prior to the Pro launch. I wouldn’t have bought the Pro unless I had a drive to go with it.

Guessing the PS6 will be digital only and if that’s the case I will have to suck it up then.

However totally agree re Kindle and music.

If anyone is still wanting a disc drive for PS5 Pro, Gorilla Gaming say they have them in stock.

JB have restarted taking pre-orders for delivery on 7 March. After last time, that will have to be seen to be believed.
