of course there is no more need to be said. You took it from wikipedia. that absolute holy grail of information that is true and just

I don't need to take a chill pill. You purposely 1/2 quoted a description to make it fit your purpose. Then you quote wikipedia on me? You expect that to be a persuasive argument?

Quite simply, Diablo has role-playing elements. As I said, based on your description, so does GoW.

I do not class it as an rpg and never will.

Thanks for the recommendations which luckily didnt get lost in the bickering :) will check out Mass Effect and Dragon Age to start with

hope my list helps, these (except runescape) are the only rpgs that have really gripped me. others get boring fast IMO , im a fps person ;)

Im also a fps kind of guy at heart but a bit of variety never harms :)

I think if you are into fps' more then I would suggest trying ME first.

And it wasn't bickering, it was continued debate over a point

looking forward to this even though I am not a fan of Oblivion. Although ToR and Guidwars 2 may be out by then. Or, if Diablo comes out this year, year over.

vexxxboy: just remember there are two versions of Witcher there's the original which is not that good and there is the Enhanced version which is like a whole new game and got rpg of the year awards, if you look for it its around $24 which is a great price

The Witcher tends to be a lot cheaper than The Witcher Enhanced Edition. For the first game, the best one to play is the Director's Cut version, which is available as a free download for anyone who owns The Witcher. It's basically the enhanced edition plus removal of censorship and a bit more game.

The Witcher censored versions are US and Australian. Censorship makes no difference to game play but was (IMO) completely unnecessary. So, if you want to play the game the developers wanted everyone to have, the Director's Cut is the way to go.

If you find The Witcher Enhanced cheaper than The Witcher, original game, then go for it. But if you get The Witcher go and grab the downloads to update it. You can choose to upgrade just to the Enhanced version or Directors Cut.

If you are thinking about playing The Witcher 2 you really should play the original Witcher first.

Mass Effect 1 and 2 highly recommended.

#1 tip for both games (all Bioware games really), if you want more conversation options available later in the game stick to being consistently good or evil on each character/play-through.

eg:
I did a male solider play through fairly consistently paragon (good) and now I'm doing a female biotic play-through taking all the renegade options.

You get to see both sides of the games this way, more options. If you take a middle of the road approach you loose a lot of conversation options later on as you don't have high enough paragon or renegade.

If you go to all planets and do all missions (side assignments etc) each play-through has about 30-40 hours or so, pretty stellar bang for buck if you pick up the games in Steam specials.

or if you want to get to level 50 then you can play through like 3 times and actually not put any points into conversation at all and still max them. just have to play it properly.

Mass effect II was the only one out of the two Ive played. Loved it. From the very start I was hooked. Great game. and DLC to keep you playing.
