Obviously the downside of Amazon.co.uk is the delay in new games arriving, MA has a pretty good track record of delivery on release day.

Do they ever! (track record delivery)

I remember getting Halo 3 the day before released. They shipped it early with a "do not deliver" sticker on it, luckily mine was damaged in transit so it was delivered as soon as it hit my local depo. I received many bribes from fanboy friends to play it early with me ^^

While i enjoy receiving on launch day, now that i live near an EB Game i have the option to pick and choose. Now that MA has done away with free shipping they are actually more expensive now for me.

Well as I said earlier if price is the issue or even reward points nzgameshop not only have great prices they have also introduced reward points that equate to $5 vouchers or if you pol them up a little you get bonus vouchers too.

Although they ship on or before release day as you all (or at least some of you anyway) they are not shipping from NZ so you would not be likely to get on release day but a few days later.

I have bought and found MA to be good too but with the OP being about reward points just not being rewarding nzgameshop is a great option as theirs are rewarding and they also have titles not readily available in NZ as well and I can not fault them on price in fact just yesterday I cancelled my EB preorder of Saints Row 3 ($128) and saved $57 for the exact same item.

Also they can't be faulted on price of accessories price match headphones if you don't believe me.

Yeah, I've always found that weird, electronics too.

Different countries provide different ratings, some have content removed or not removed to cater for those ratings, hence they won't ship games internationally. Warranty is the issue with Electronics.

Yeah I thought about that, but the same could be said about movies. For instance I could buy Hostel 2 from Amazon UK which I know to be banned in NZ.

No, it's not banned. Saw it on Sky Movies last year.

Now the game Postal, that's banned.

My bad, it is indeed for sale in NZ, it was banned but they took a scene out and released it. I doubt if you got it from Amazon however it would have that scene removed.

Australian blu ray version of Hostel 2 is uncut, unlike New Zealand version.

While I agree that the MA banana point offers do seem a little token, I feel like some of you are losing sight of how excellent they are in all other respects. I mean they're an NZ business who have just gone from strength to strength. I've also been with them for some years now, not quite as long as a few others here but certainly the gpstore days, and I've never really had a single complaint. Fair trading act, commerce commission .. I mean really?

They've come through on day 1 delivery for me on many ocassions, even though I'm down in little old South Canterbury. I can't remember a single instance where delivery has been longer than overnight, when I've come to expect 2 day delivery as the norm these days. I know some aren't huge fans of Prime Ape, and I wasn't either initially but I have to say, after having it for a year I love it now. I find their prices are typically very competitive, and in cases where I can get it cheaper elsewhere I'm usually happy to pay the difference for their great service (even if I wasn't, they offer price matching). Their range of products is great, basically a one stop shop for gift ideas for me now. Plus I'm a bit of a movie/tv fan :)

Looking at my alternatives such as the hugely overpriced EB (not an NZ business, uses their clout to work out dirty exclusive pre-order deals, etc), the Warehouse (hit and miss service, usually decent pricing but fairly small scale in terms of PC gaming, not bad for movies/tv though). The last few occasions when my partner and I have shopped at EB we have been disappointed to see the same new release items elsewhere for considerably less, not to mention 1-2 year old+ games still selling for release day prices, or close to (though we still do like to have a look around a physical store and would like to see it remain open, so we buy the odd item there.. though lately I've come to regret it).

But really, as far as NZ based online stores go (forget online actually, just stores in general) they're in a field of their own imo. So yeah, the banana points scheme may be a bit of a let down but given that it's on top of everything else they do so well, I just dont care!

(but that's just me of course, and no, I have no affiliation/connection to any of the above)

capbbeard: I think the problem for me stems from MANY conversations held with the MD where he said they would do better in this area, and it's never eventuated. Now he has taken to ignoring me, which is where I draw the line. It doesn't take much to put customers off, and to be honest, he would have been better to have dealt with it instead of burying his head in the sand. I only said that he would find himself at the end of a complaint if he cancelled the program in response to being asked to provide reasonable value.

Yeah, that is understandable, I didn't intend to point the finger at anyone in particular with my comments. It just felt like the overall tone was a little negative for what I feel is a really top notch store.

But hey, if they do improve the banana points situation, I'm all for it, dont get me wrong :)

And you threatening him is really going to help matters.

TBH, get over it, I feel Im "ripped off" when it comes to my FlyBuys and OneCard points, but theyre just a perk, I dont goto shops that accept them purely for those. Youre not charged to obtain those points, and youre not forced to buy from MA. Because they dont have things you want, is just bad luck.
