We have some refurbished DV120 here at the moment. Ask Hadley at nicegear nicely and he might supply one to you at a good price (we can't sell direct).

Got in contact with Hadley, but the refurbished ones are only $10 cheaper than a new one($102 with shipping) ..... At this price i might as well get a brand new one for a piece of mind if there is stock.

Ragnor: You can get an older version of the Dynalink RTA1320 for $10-20 on Trademe. Only problem is they tend to run hot and only last a year or two.

Looks like there are also a few Netcomm NB6 and TP Link TD-8840 non T on Trademe.

If you don't mind spending ~$100 there's the Draytek Vigor 120 which does full PPPoA to PPPoE passthrough.

Sigh.. they mailed me a 8840T in the end even though they confirmed it was the 8840. I think the 8840 is completely gone in NZ now......

There may be a last sighting of a TP-Link TD-8840 at PC Force.

I emailed the vendor and asked if the box had the 'T' model on it and was advised it didn't.
So I bought one. True to the vendors word the box was the TD-8840 model with half bridge.

Had no hassles and got what I paid for.

I know this is not what people want to hear, but I put the TD-8840 with my TD-8840T in my gadgets box and continued using my Thomson TG585v8 as it's stable and gives 1Mbps higher bandwidth than either the TD-8840 or the TD-8840T. I believe(I've not confirmed) the Thomson TG585v8 can also support a half bridge, but you'd have to set it up via the cmd line.
I haven't tried it as I'm using my TG585v8 as a router/modem with a few IP subnets and a point to point subnet (double NAT) to my LAN router.
One of the Thomson IP sub-networks I use as a isolated guest network giving Internet access and thus, logically separated from my main IP LAN.
The guest AP is an old WAG120N with QoS (if you can call it that)and attached via it's WAN port (Port-1) to 100Mb Ethernet.
The WiFi on the WAG120N is crap as you'd expect from Linksys,but it's still good enough to cover the lounge and kitchen for guests.
The Thomson WiFi (It's configured in the guest VLAN) and range extenders add additional guest coverage if required.

That's my show and tell.

Unfortunately pcforce only has the 8840T now, i too asked them before making a payment and purchase, but just before shipping they told me they had no 8840 in the showroom and was going to ship me a random wireless modem without half bridge ability or i can wait for their supplier to ship a 8840 to me, but after confirming with them what their supplier has is the T model.....

Apologise for my simpleness but i'd like to understand why using a wireless router with a modem/router is good. I've done a bit of reading on it but having difficulty taking it in!

My hardware: wireless router TP-Link TL-WR1043ND and a td-8840.

The wireless router is a new purchase, I was thinking of putting the 8840 out of action. Should I not...? Then theres this Gargoyle firmware if I go down that route, is the only benefit using gargoyle quota management? or is it more secure using this configuration.
