Howdy

I am after a speedy VPN and was hoping you guys might have some recommendations for me.

I have tried Astrill and only get about 1.5MB/sec with them, and have tried VPNSecure and get about 2MB/sec with them (though I got 3MB/sec late last night), both connecting with OpenVPN from NZ servers.

My raw connection maxes out at about 4.2MB/sec, and downloading from Usenet with SSL I can get 3.6MB/sec most of the time.

Can anyone recommend a VPN that can give me a regular 3.5MB/sec or close to it with OpenVPN?

Thanks

What speed do you get to local servers? I have no problem maxing out my line with Astrill. Also which servers are you trying to connect to? Who is your ISP?

I've got VDSL with Snap.  Connecting to any of Astrill's New Zealand servers gives me about 1.5MB/sec with OpenVPN, my line speed is just over 4MB/sec.  Note that's megabytes/sec, my connection is about 36Mbps.

So far my tests have shown VPNSecure to be a bit faster than Astrill, but still not maxing out my connection.

Nah it's because I want an SSL encrypted connection.  I've been testing with Astrill quite a bit today downloading an Ubuntu torrent.

The download gradually speeds up; it sits around 1MB/sec for a minute, then progressively increases and by the time it's almost finished downloading the 760Mb ISO (about 10 minutes or so) it's fluctuating from 2.3-2.9MB/sec.

If I disable the VPN then I get to 4MB/sec almost straight away and stay there consistently.
