I am considering moving to UFB.

Currently connected to ADSL with Telecom via Draytek Vigor 120 + Buffalo WZR-HP-AG300H (running DD-WRT) running in full bridge mode.

Ideally I want to replace the Draytek Vigor 120 with the UFB compatible equivalent that I can also run in full bridge mode.

What are my options? What would you do?

Yup should be as simple as removing the Vigor and plugging in the Buffalo. I think this is the case even with Orcon UFB as DD-WRT allows you to tag the WAN port VLAN. A good setup pays off, nice job man.

Yeah I believe Orcon are using DHCP option 82 instead of other authentication/management methods like PPPoE etc.. so it should just be plug ethernet cable from the ONT to the WAN port in the Buffalo and switch the WAN settings in DD-WRT to DHCP/obtain automatically.

Thank you for the replies guys.

Here I was thinking I would need a new modem to switch over. Hah.

Remove the Vigor modem, plug cable direct into Buffalo router, DHCP and success.

Cheers.

Your new modem is effectively the ONT which is supplied by the fibre company (and remains their property).

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their xDSL broadband network faster and even more now as they are upgrading their rural Conklins. If your still stuck on ADSL or VDSL, why not spend $195 on a master filter install to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Will the public IP remain on the ONT or will it be given to the router?

Cheers

The router will get the public address. The ONT is essentially just a media converter and works at layer 2 (mostly).
