I purchased a master splitter to install , and have found the existing phone line in the ceiling.

I can join the line to this, and then run a cat 5 cable and use two pairs for the two rj 45 sockets.

Is someone able to help with what the pins are on the rj45 ? 4,5 for voice and 4,5 for data on the other ?

Also the rj45 to rj12 lead to the modem line input. Is this the two centre ones also ?

Thanks in advance

Tom

Best to find where the actual line from the street comes into your house. This is usually where the master splitter should go i.e. is there a little white box on the side of your house or the first jackpoint inside the house (from the street) where a black cable is entering?

Thanks. It is an old house, and has the black outdoor cable inside the ceiling with the gel filled caps on them, there is no box, that I can see,

Ok thanks. That's the bit I was confused with, couldn't see it anywhere, but have the tools and everything else, so will crack on with it shortly
