Where can I buy RJ45 double wall plates in Wellington? Do any hardware stores have them, or do I need to go to a specialist store?

Jaycar should have them, maybe Ascent but any place that deals with telephone networking cabling should have them.

Can you recommend any particular store? Ideally CBD or just north of CBD. There used to be a place beside Spotlight in Ngaio, but is it still there?

Any of the PDL stockists, like Stewarts or MasterTrade, should have the bits.  Use a couple of 619 comms modules (there are several sorts) in a 682 faceplate.  Or a 682HID faceplate if you want to want to label the outlets.

You can do the same with HPM products, usually cheaper but much harder to find.

I know Jaycar thanks, it's on the other side of town from me. I'll try Stewarts as I can find them (no hours on their website), the mastertrade website says their closest branch is masterton.

I don't want el cheapo, I want decent. Bunnings tends to have PDL stuff, but usually the common stuff not specialist stuff like dual RJ45.

Just been through this, Stewrts have a branch on Adelaide road across the road from BP, next door to one of the finance companies, they are only open till 11am on a Saturday, and not open on Sunday.

You need a double keystone faceplate and rj45 sockets, but get the ones with the built in keystone adapters.

There is an online store that sells pdl modules, can't recall exactly what it is called, electrical Ltd or something, but I think they also sell on trademe. Pricing is a lot cheaper than I got through a wholesaler.

Would two PDL 619MD modules plus a PDL 682 double light switch work? I assume the 682 comes without switches and the 619 modules just slip/clip in?

That's it. Or 619MDL if you want them shuttered.

It'll work. but the light switch comes with mechs, so you'll have to pop them out, which isn't too much trouble.

You can buy a 2 gang plate with no mechs though

Yes, the one you want is 682VH, which is the empty 2-aperture front plate.
