Hey guys, so I own a Netgear DGND3700v2 modem/router and have been having trouble with the internet connection recently. It started this morning where the internet would randomly drop out for a good minute or two then reconnect itself. Does anyone know why this is happening?

Is your DSL dropping out, or simply your WiFi?

try testing with an ethernet connection, check logs in your router and check the lights to see if they give you an indication.


If it is indeed your DSL, ild recommend trying another router if you have one handy... being on adsl you should too...

After that, call your ISP and report the fault, making sure to explain you have tried the second modem.


Ild also suggest trying an isolation test.

- you have reset your modem and router
- your PC (or other PCs in your LAN) is not downloading large files when you are testing - you are not being throttled by your ISP due to going over the monthly cap

- Your ISP and plan

- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service
- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above

Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.

A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

I recommend you read these two blog posts:

- Are you receiving a substandard ULL ADSL2+ connection from your ISP?

It randomly drops out for like 2 minutes, 2 lights on the router stop for that period of time. Im not sure what the cause is. I've never had his problem with this router, I've had it for 1 and half now.

call telecom to do a line check? too much noise can drop it.

only time asdl dropped was when it rained heaps.. water got into
wiring somewhere.

no problem since switching to fibre

also had line disconnected by a tech twice by mistake
when connecting another person in street

once it was out for 2 days until tech sent back to fix the fault
they caused!


also.. telecom had a switch failure (at locak street exchange) once where it would randomly drop and reconnect as well


and sometimes they have a major fault where it would fail to auth/login and drop


so perhaps need to check routers log via the web panel and see where its doing wrong exactly?

 where its dropping like.. right off? at login stage or after it auth-ed and started to send data.

As for the lights, Which lights are turning off? sounds possibly like your dsl is dropping.
