I have recently gone from ADSL to VDSL with Telecom, or Spark as the like to be called now. With the change came a new modem/router - the Huawei HG630b, and subsequent WiFi problems. In my household we all use Apple devices, including iPhones, iPad and a MacBook. When these connect to the WiFi on the new router, a popup login success message with this address appears: (there are actually a couple of different addresses that come up, but they all appear to do the same thing). After having to manually close the popup, the WiFi connection works fine - everything loads as expected. It probably doesn't need to be said, but this didn't happen with the previous router. The popup will appear every time the device is unlocked and attempts to connect to the network. Sometimes it won't actually connect to the WiFi until you try to load something, other times it does it straight away.

From what I can gather, this seems to be a captive portal, but I have no idea why it is now appearing where it didn't previously. Can anyone suggest what settings may need to be changed to address this?

This page is opened every time an Apple device attempts to connect to the internet to test whether there is internet connectivity.

As to why you're seeing what you're describing, I have no idea.

Already a thread about this router/modem.  See here :)

Thanks, I did have a read through that thread. Of note, if I plug in my Apple Airport Base Station and use that for WiFi, the issue is still apparent. This leads me to think it's an issue the router is causing itself, not related to the WiFi itself.

No solution for you, but I have just replaced my failed Technicolor router with a Huawei HG630b.

No popups related to WiFi on my iPad or PC laptops which are using WiFi and ADSL.
My iPad always appears connected when I pick it up.

I had the same problem and solved it by turning off the Auto_Login slider on the HG630 wifi connection in each of my ios devices.

Thank you gedf, this has fixed the issue for me. Strangely the auto-join and auto-login options aren't there on the iPad, which is probably why that particular device wasn't having any issues.
