I've have a Netgear WNDR 3700 (running Gargoyle) and a Draytek Vigor 120 in bridged mode, connecting to Vodafone via ADSL.  It's all been working fine for months, but then yesterday afternoon it lost the internet connection for no apparent reason.  The Draytek says Showtime and 10Mb/s down, 1 Mb/s up - which is normal for our place, but there is no internet connection.

My first thought was Vodafne, so I rang them.  After the customary half hour + wait, they told me the connection was fine from their side.  Sure enough, when I hooked up my old Vodafone supplied modem/router, the connection is fine.

So I'm a bit stumped.  Why would the Draytek or Netgear just stop working?  And where do I start to debug this?

I'm guessing, my first step would be to just connect the Draytek directly to a laptop and see if I can connect through that without the Netgear router.  Is that a good place to start?  If so, where can I find some instructions around configuring that (as it's configured for bridge mode at the moment)?

Can you still login to the routers configuration Web pages? Does your computer still get an IP address from the router?

If it's got DSL sync and is in bridge mode use your pc to do a PPPoE connection. And see if it works.

I got a dv30 on DSL in bridge and it is sweet I do the PPPoE from a microtik. If you can get a connection from PPPoE on ur pic then it will probably be a problem with that net gear router

That sounds like a good first step.  How do you do the PPPOE connection from a PC when in bridge mode?

Presuming you are using windows: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-nz/windows-vista/create-a-pppoe-connection-to-the-internet

I
would forget going over wireless though. Plug a cable directly into the dv120.

Thanks, I'll give that a try, which should rule out (or not) the Draytek as the problem.

I finally got into this after being away on holiday for a couple of weeks.  It seems that he Vigor 120 is the problem.  I can't get it to connect using Windows or even by taking it out of bridge mode and connecting through it's own settings.

I get Showtime, but cannot connect to my ISP (Vodafone).  I have reflashed the firmware and re set all the settings correctly, but it won't connect.  My old Vodafone modem/router connects fine with the same ID, PWD etc.

It looks like it has just died, but it does get Showtime and I can access the admin web interface.  Anyone got any ideas before I bin it?
