Hi All,

Hoping you guys could take a look at the attached images and offer any advice as to what I might do in regards to my home WiFi connection that frequently drops out (gets stuck on the "connecting to..."  part of loading websites for about 20 seconds).  I'm on a UFB 100/20 connection with 2Degrees using a FritzBox 7490. I'm pretty confident the problem is not the ISP as when this happens it's not even possible to connect to my router through the web interface.

The router is placed at the other end of my house, but it's a small house so I don't think that is the problem.  I suspect the problem is the number of WiFi networks in the area.  Would appreciate any advice you can offer that might help.

Channel 6 looks like it might be a better option.  Give it a try and see how you go.

Had this exact same problem recently.. changed the channel, and haven't had any dropouts in a couple of weeks or so.

Is this happening for just one device or multiple devices?

Size of the house is irrelevant. look at the signal strength, not that great.
My house is small (3 bedroom) . The wifi is unusable at the other end of my house: signal strength issue.
The issue will be the no of walls etc the signal needs to go through. Try using wifi in the same room as the router/access point.

There also may be others devices on 2.4Ghz causing interfernce. ONLY wifi will show in your tests/graphs, other 2.4Ghz devices wont show.
Could also be a neighbor with an illegal/noisey 2.4 device, thats not allways on (not necessarily wifi)

Try another channel, that does sometime fix these issues, but if its signal related then you need a powerline wifi extender
It does look like you are on the least congested channel though.

Ive seen alot more wifi networks than that, you really dont have many where you are
Look at their signal strength compared to yours.
Your wifi signal should be way higher than the neighbours, thats your issue.

Thanks for the advice here.  A couple days ago I called the Snap helpdesk and explained the problem.  They changed my routers security settings from WPA2 to "WPA + WPA2".

He said that often apple devices can cause these kind of problems for WPA2 networks.

I don't really know what it all means, but the problem appears to have been resolved.

So its resolved by reducing the security then, not a good result I would think.

Theres still a signal issue that might be improved anyway. Does the modem have to be at the other end of the house instead of more central? Or potentially move it around to minimise the number of walls it needs to go through to get around the house. At least you might be able to improve the performance a bit by getting the signal in a slightly more central spot.

Qualified in business, certified in fibre, stuck in copper, have to keep going  ^_^
