Without a lot more information it's pretty hard to disagnose your fault.

Assuming your NF4V was purchased standalone and is not ISP branded (Orcon for example) it may have old firmware. A DNSmasq related issue was fixed well over a year ago, have you upgraded your firmware?

If your router is ISP branded it'll also no longer be able to receive automatic updates from your ISP as it'll no longer be managed.

I had a similar problem. Try putting the DNS servers in the properties for IPv4 and see if that helps.

According to the User guide under the management section of the web interface you can view system log.

After it recovers from the next dropout have a look in there and tell us what it says.

Is there any pattern to when it drops out? Are you getting dropouts on wireless, wired or both?

If it's just wireless is your microwave going at the same time or anything else like that?

My NF4Vs have been crashing a bit recently. Both of them on different connections just die. Cant get web interface, cant ping them, needs a power cycle to come back. Been stable for years, and then 3x on snap and 2x on bigpipe in the last month have crashed. Wonder if its something to do with 998 change over or something?
