A few days ago, firmware v1.10.7 has been officially released.

No backup, no pity. Anyway, RAID isn't one.

Hi

Trying to set up my ER4 by following this guide. I've come across a few items that don't quite conform with errors emitted when I try to config - whether this has anything to do with the latest Firmware update or not I'm unsure.

I've reset my device back to out of box state and am wanting to setup for use with 2Degrees UFB Ultimate.

I setup PPPoE/password, set VLAN ID to 10, tick Enable default Firewall, make sure Bridge is not selected, save and restart. I start entering all the configure details as detailed but have no luck with any of the IPv6 config entries. Basically all of them are giving some form of error. My question therefore, before I start setting this up, yet again, is - should 'Enable DHCPv6 Prefix Delegation' be in a selected or unselected state?

@cjmchch I've updated the OP - I noticed there was a mistake in my commands. Try with those.

Thank you

I will.

I’m getting there, albeit slowly...at least I was able to browse the Internet!

was acquired after configuring DNS forwarding

good evening Michael,

i tried your updated method to enable ipv6, how do you normally verified ipv6 has been able or not?

i can see there is new line under my normal ipv4 address, they started with fe80::2d28:

but is it normal to have "::"?

thanks,

Sam

Your router should show a fe80:: address under the PPPoE connection and a subnet under your local LAN port. Try rebooting it. I can see your post didn't come via IPv6 so it isn't working yet (tip - Geekzone's logo will change when accessed via IPv6).

Ensure you've modified the commands for your setup - they're an example only. Also read the bit regarding 2degrees IPv6 using a /48 subnet if you don't have a static IP with them. If you want to try again then use the clear commands at the top of the IPv6 part, reboot your router and try again.

Also if you want to learn more about IPv6 I recommend completing this course: https://ipv6.he.net/certification/ - you get a free shirt upon completion. Lets see if anyone can match my score:

a green "ipv6" was there on top of the geekzone logo, but gone after rebooting,

i did see a fe80:: address under the PPPoE connection, so as under eth1,

i did use "set prefix-length /48"

The HE certification is great, you'll learn a lot. I wear my shirt quite often.

You can also try IPv6 only sites, like https://ipv6.google.com to test your connectivity. Bear in mind, you're browser can and will fall back to IPv4 at times. You can also use https://test-ipv6.com/ to test your connection (there are others, you can google them).

I'm up and running with my EdgeRouter4 using IPv4 only - kept stalling for some reason when trying to setup on IPv6 following the instructions.

Everything is working except for 2 small issues - Port Forwarding and open ports. I think it is most likely because of my settings in relation to setting the correct WAN interface. This is where I'm a bit confused and hoping someone can give me the correct answer.

I use 2Degrees UFB which has a WAN eth0 setting of pppoe with vlan 10 set.

When it comes to setting Firewall Policies and Port Forwarding is my WAN interface eth0. eth0.10 or pppoe?

I have set a port forwarding rule to one of my computers which remains closed when I test it. This is why I think my interface settings are wrong. I have it set to eth0.10

The other small issue is that I have both port 80 and 443 open that I never opened, and want closed. How best to achieve that?

Thanks in advance for any help

Resolved this myself - WAN interface is PPPoE!

I figured that if I couldn't open ports that I set and the firewall wasn't blocking ports it was meant to then it had to be the WAN interface setting that was wrong...

Just wondering Michael Murphy if there is a way on the edgerouter 4 to show uptime of my internet connectivity or some other way of determining if my internet connection drops off.

I've had a couple of recent issues where one of my 24/7 computers has failed to connect to an external range of servers and times out. I'm trying to isolate whether it is an issue with regard the connection or a computer/internal network problem issue or not.

You can integrate the EdgeRouter with UNMS which will log outages for you https://unms.com/

You have to install it on a Linux server, and it runs on its own docker container

Thanks for that - the issues I'm having are on a CentOS server so will install and run from there. Cheers for the info.
