Dear All,
I have Vodafone gigabit fibre which was running at close to 1000/500 but since I returned from oversea it seems to be running at less than 100 for both downloading and up loading.
Looking at the speednet graph for what it worth show rapid download to 100 then the graph plateaus at 100 or so. I wondered if I had been changed from a 1000/500 plan to a 100/100 plan but vodafone says no.
I've spoken to vodafone and they have tried logging into my router and resetting it which hasnt improved anything so I am in the process of creating a log of times over few days along with pathping and tracert at their request so they can get a chorus tech to come and visit. I have also turned off/on the routers and switches too.
I have a network with a gigabit switches and cat6 cabling which also connects to my synology NAS.
I have tried connecting the pc directly to the vodafone router using two different cat 6 cables which did not help.
My w10 pc (i7 4790K 32G RAM) has gigabit ports and under device manager no error are listed and network properties Ethernet (intel conection I218-V) says it talking at 1000/1000.
I also have a witopia vpn functionality but it isnt running (it creates virtual network adapters but none are active at the moment)
I downloaded a 6Gb file from my synology NAS by using file explorer and downloaded it in 55 seconds with the download graph saying speed was 113MBps.
I dont have an other PC with gigabit ethernet ports and I am worried that the PC could be the source because the max download doesnt rise above 100
Does my ability to download a file from my NAS at 113MBps (6GB over about a minute) exclude the posibility that my pc is connecting to the internet a 100 Mbs despite it being a 1000Mbps ether net port?
Could there be a problem with the router only connecting at 100?
A.
