@joker97

Trying to find under the settings what the speed is from the router to the ONT.

Chorus ONT faq says a yellow light means 1Gb/s from the ONT to the internet.

Trying to find what the speed of the WAN connection from the router to the ONT.

Under the Main menu of the router.

Internet is

Physical link:                        Up /Full /1000
Downstream speed (Mbit/s):   1000
Upstream speed (Mbit/s):       1000
Access type:                         Ethernet

Under LAN is

Interface IP Address Status Mode Speed
LAN1 192.168.1.1  Connected  Full  1000Mbps
LAN2 192.168.1.1  Connected  Full  1000Mbps
LAN3 192.168.1.1  Connected  Full  1000Mbps
LAN4 192.168.1.1  Connected  Full  1000Mbps

Next step is going to be trying a Ubuntu dvd in case its a windows driver problem.

That means your router is connected to ont at 1Gbps.

The issue lies with chorus... Wait till a voda rep shows up at work tomorrow to assist

Wait... This needs to be under Vodafone subgroup for the reps to see.

You could "report" this thread so a mod can fix it.

it definitely looks like there is something in the system limiting it to fast Ethernet

can you create a direct connection from your PC to your isp? removing the router from the system?

or do you have a different device you can test on?

OK, I think I have found the problem....

Embarrassing but hey better to confess to share the experience...

I wonder if the server speedtest was pinging by default wasnt able to work above 100 Mbps..

I changed the test server and speeds jumped up significantly. Not the speeds that I had a year ago, but much improved..

So sorry guys if this turns out to be the answer...

Does the ONT light's colour reflect 1Gbps connection? Can't see too much up the thread. On an iPhone.

Yes LAN on the ont is yellow, which is a 1Gb connection according to the chorus FAQ.

I think I'll give it another day or two of intermittent speed checking to auckland/chch servers to see if things have stayed above 300 Mbps and comparing it with the default Timaru server that speed test was giving me earlier.

If so I then start again with swapping ethernet cable to see if I can get up to the 950/450 speeds I was getting earlier this year.

There was another thread about speedtest server issues ... Again sorry can't do much with the humble iPhone in terms of searching for that thread

I'm sure also the speed test is a bit whack at the moment, on voda gigabit fibre also, on chrome a speed test said 120 down and 112 up, switch to edge browser 2 seconds later, 929 down, and 476 up.

.............................................................

simple logic.

Weird on spark speedtests have been ok ...

PS sometimes going with an unpopular ISP is a good thing :)
