What RB3011 is this?  Is it in a 1RU case with internal power supply with IEC plug or an external DC power supply?  Is the external power supply OK?  Can you swap it for another?

See if it makes any difference if you try powering up the router with no patch leads connected, give it a couple of minutes to boot then connect the patch leads

Can you give us the output of /system routerboard print?

What is connected to port5?

Here is the output,

[admin@MikroTik] > system routerboard print
routerboard: yes
model: RouterBOARD 3011UiAS
serial-number: 78100606BA5D
firmware-type: ipq8060
factory-firmware: 3.27
current-firmware: 3.27
upgrade-firmware: 3.35

Nothing is connected to port 5, was a server now on port 4 (as test for faulty connector)  it is a the rack mount with external power supply and I don't have access to another.

I have not yet tried the os downgrade as suggested but am planning to try it however to router has been stable and not dropped a connection since 6:20am according to it's logs

I have just updated that now.  I had thought the router os == firmware.

Two separate things (as you've figured out!).

System->Packages to update RouterOS

System->Routerboard to check firmware

yes, maybe a re-design of the ui should put them together :)

I think I will pick up a new cat6 cable tomorrow just in case, the current feed to the router is a cat5e ~30m, whereas 15m will reach as we moved server and router to recently

Firmware is not the OS.

Consider situations where people have installed Mikrotik's RouterOS onto PC hardware (x86) - you won't have a firmware upgrade option (short of say booting into the BIOS setup and feeding it a disk with an update), only the option to upgrade the (Router-)OS version.

Perform the upgrade to the firmware (/system routerboard upgrade) before trying anything else.

(OS upgrade on the other hand is /system package update install)

Yeah, I mean together as in the same menu location.

That would be like telling Microsoft that the BIOS update should be found in Windows Update

Don't know how you have configured your bridge(s), but ROs v 6.38.3 just released today has a fix for port flapping on a bridge port. May or may not be relevant.

Yes update the mikrotik, it probably isnt the isp.

You can try another router to rule that out though. I suspect the mikrotik will not be set up correctly. They are reasonably complex.

I haven't updated the os, but have updates the firmware.  So os is 6.38.0?  The other thing is I currently have nothing in the second set of ports, and thats has been linked in some posts to being a problem.

It is a lot better, but still too much down time but I have some new cables coming, so will try that too.
