Hi all,

Just after a little assistance with the setup of an ER-X. I've got a pretty limited understanding with them, just enough to do the basics haha.

In this particular situation, I've got a  HG659 on Vodafone VDSL in bridge mode to the ER-X. Managed to get the bridging setup working nicely, however I've been unable to get the Masquerade rule working to allow the Huawei to be viewed from the LAN side of the ER-X.

I've got the Huawei on 192.168.10.1, ER-X on 192.168.1.1. I thought I had this correct, but it doesn't seem to be working (see screen caps below). Have I missed something there?

I want UPnP enabled in this case - basically a set and forget setup, where top notch security is not at a real premium - I think I have that setup correctly? See cap below.

Also want to double check the correct command for enabled hardware offloading in this situation. I think it should be "set system offload ipv4 vlan enable"? I did try that and got an error, but have run out of time this evening to test it further.

Really love these routers, unbelievable bang for buck.

Thanks heaps!

You've got it set almost right, however, the rule "To Vodafone modem" is set to 2nd so it won't trigger.

Click and drag it to the top and it should trigger.

In regards to the offloading have a look at my tutorial if you haven't already.

Thank you - I didn't realize the ER-X worked differently to the ER-Lite in regards to HW offloading. Got that sorted now.

I still haven't had any luck with the Masquerade rule. In my ER-Lite at home I've got basically the same setup, and works sweet - didn't have to have the rule at the top of the list either.

Is it possible that I'd need to set eth0 to have an IP address on the same range as the Huawei?

Yes you'll need to have an IP in that range assigned to the interface.

That got it - thank you. Went for UPnP2 rather than UPnP as well, just tested that and it works a charm. Thanks for your help.
