Hello Geek fellows,

happy Friday.

a while ago, i took advise from fellows here that to get rid of my wifi extenders and replaced them with net gear orbi.

i'm current use netgear router + 3 x orbi.

the reason i keep the netgear router is orbi could not get full speed on its own. result from speedtest shown netgear router has 100m full speed, orbi only has 70m.

i'm thinking of changing the router since i have been having internet drop lately. (:( :( :( the internet is driving me mad.)

anyway back to the topic, to fellows who is using edgerouter or have experience with it , how is it (or similar business grade) better than others?

hope you guys have a awesome weekend

thanks,

Sam

Orbi should be handling your routing perfectly. I'd be contacting their support or taking it back if it isn't working.

EDIT: Have you got the latest firmware running on the Orbi and followed the setup instructions for your ISP from https://www.pbtech.co.nz/NetgearISPSetting

Yes the Orbi should be fine for this. You shouldn't need another router.

Why I like my Edgerouter. It is a lot more stable. The uptime (how long since last restart) often is over a whole year. (although it is also connected to a UPS).

Far more configuration options. If you can't use the GUI to configure it to do what you want, you can use the command line interface instead.

cons: A bit of a learning curve to get it going. As unlike an ISP supplied router. You can't just plug in an Edgerouter and have it work out of the box.

There was an old thread where @sbiddle said that Apple devices don't fully support the WiFi standards. So no surprises that you are having WiFi problems with them.

Can't say more myself as I'm using Xclaim APs, and everyone in my house has Android mobile devices.
