I have a Nokia 6121 cell phone and it isn't wireless. Is it possible to get an adaptor or software or something to convert any cell phone to receive wifi so I can use it at a wifi hotspot?

I don't think you can with that specific model - but you can buy SDIO 802.11 adapters that will enable a cell phone with wireless LAN - if it has an SDIO slot.

How do I tell if my phone has an SDIO slot?

Does it take an SD memory card?
Check the nokia website, it will tell you.  Bear in mind, not ALL SD card slots support SDIO, some are purely for data storage.  There is also SD, Mini SD, and Micro SD so watch out if/when you try to buy something.  Spectec make them, along with GPS cards, and even cameras.

6121 can't have WiFi added to it. If you want WiFi you will have to buy a Nokia that has it built in such as the E series and high end N series phones.

My Nokia 6121 has a microSD expansion slot. I see on a website that Spectec does a microSD WiFi card - would that work? What shop would sell those cards so I could take the phone in to ask them?

In theory, if the phone supported SDIO it would, but most phones don't. Even if the phone did support SDIO, you'd need to make sure that phone's firmware supported that particular wireless card.

It's cheaper and easier to just follow the advice of the others on this thread and just get a new phone like a Nokia E or N series with built in wireless.
