I use the Cloudflare private DNS on my phone. The DNS itself is good but no different than Google 8.8.8.8.

I was a beta tester for 1.1.1.1 WARP+ but the service is unreliable with frequent stalls.

If you are on a laptop using some third party network you might just use a VPN to keep traffic out of their eyes but at home I suggest you keep using your ISP DNS to take advantage of your local caches/CDN.

Been discussed many times about why using non ISP DNS is a terrible idea and will often break your CDN experience including all streaming services.
Plus Cloudflare are an utterly vile company that no one should use out of principal.

One One was a racehorse.

One Two was one too.

One One won one race

And One Two won one too.

Their DNS is good if you for some reason need another DNS service, but you should use your ISP DNS. CloudFlare is a great company that's very open, shared a lot of great technology and services for free, but others have different opinions (which we're not going to discuss on this thread).

I've been using 1.1.1.1 private DNS on my Android for the past 2 months or so - in part to actually get an idea for myself how many things break using it particularly with Firefox moving to this as the default in the near future. It has lots of implications for my day job.

There are lots of issues that it creates, particularly in captive portal hotspot environments where redirects will fail in lots of setups. I've been intentionally using public hotspots and hotel WiFi myself on this current trip to the US just to get an idea of how big a problem this will be and would suggest that unless you only connect via 4G and home/work WiFi that you be very careful about enabling it as you'll be spending a lot of time disabling it.
