Is there a way to hook up an Ubitiqity Unifi AP_Outdoor Setup with Spark Fibre Broadband using only the basic router and the AP?

Yes - AP is totally I dependant of router or broadband so these make zero difference.

Absolutely, but what are you using as a controller

I haven't gotten that far. Is there a prefered controller methods and setup? Youtube normally base it on using other uinifi products.

Hi, you can run it on a local PC, it does not need to run all the time, only when configuration is required or monitoring for something. You can also use a cloud key, but thats a bit of over kill for just a single AP. You can also manage it from a stanalone app on your phone, but if you intend to expand the number of AP's this is not recommended, ie its only good for basic single AP situations.

There is a free controller thanks to @michaelmurfy

This is a good option, however installing your own controller software is easy too.

This is what I have done.
It gives such good coverage that I have turned off the Wi-Fi in the (Spark Huawei HG659b) router and just use the AP.

The software is loaded on my PC but I haven't used it since initial setup, it Just Works.
Highly recommended

Other's will confirm this, but my AP's don't automatically upgrade and I have to go into the controller software to see the updates.  Also the controller itself needs to be updated in order to see later updates for the AP's (this happened to me when I was stuck on an older version for the AP's and couldn't see the newer version until I upgraded the controller).

Not sure how other's handle this?  BTW I run the controller on a Mac, just was handy when I set up the AP's.  Have been meaning to move it to a spare Pi.

Auto updating APs is asking for trouble IMO, Ubiquiti do not have a good track record always releasing stable firmware of late.

For a basic home setup, if it's not broken, don't try and fix it, maybe just update the controller & AP firmware from time to time when you think of it, or if they've actually fixed something broken in the firmware (this also doesn't happen much of late). 😅

As per wratterus's comments, there have been a few hit and miss updates, so I am quite happy that I manually update once I have seen good comments on the UniFi forums.

I did also message the OP to advise he was also welcome to use my controller should he wish, and as pointed out michealMurphy also has one, the advantage of an online one is, its always on, so always monitoring, and available from anywhere, plus totally painless, ie no setup, anyone interested in a tenancy, let me know.

I have come to a point where the controller is adopting the UAP-Outdoor. It is also saying there is a firmware available, but it only shows available for the Outdoor+. So I am just waiting to see if it auto adopt and update. I also can't see the network name appear yet when searching for wifi signal.

Hi, is this an old legacy AP, not a new AC unit, if so you may have to manually update the firmware via SSH, also note that when you inject the URL of the firmware you will need to change the https to http.

Yip as this AP is now very old if you're running early V3 software on the AP you can't adopt or upgrade from the newer controller versions, you need to manually update the AP first before it will work.
