Question:  My NAS has (apparently) both Samba and FTP available .... could FTP be used on my network instead of the SMB1 protocols?

Or even NFS?

I have to enable SMB 1 for many pc to see our old NAS. Yes issue but I would rather not buy a new one. This can make some shares unseen. (Win+R, Optionalfeatures.exe, run, find SMB 1.0/CIFS file sharing and check box)

That's not always the case. We have one Win 10 laptop where the login credential are remembered and there is no need to enter the password every time you re-start.

As said - there is always a way around it ... kept by update from former Win7/8?
