coffeebaron: Have you got easy access in roof space above AP? Use an RJ45 joiner and a short more flexible Ethernet cable.
I have very easy access.
A quick search yields: Buy the Dynamix RJ45-AUGS Cat6 RJ45 Shielded Joiner ( RJ45-AUGS ) online - PBTech.co.nz
Otherwise, would you have a suggested product which can be easily sourced for someone not in the Trade.
The existing RJ45 connector won't fit back through the hole, so either the hole would need to be made wider or the RJ45 cut-off. It doesn't really matter as either option will require the ceiling in the Study and screw holes to be filled.
A new short white Cat 6 cable would need 2 RJ45 connectors to be added. One before the new hole and one after the new hole.
A couple of things - is the existing cable shielded or non-shielded? Are you happy to cut and re-terminate cable to a RJ45 socket, or prefer to make hole bigger and extract intact?

I think it is shielded. When I had the cable laid, I told the cabler that it had to be rated for outside use. All I remember was the cabler saying that it was taking longer to fit the 2 RJ45 connectors, as it was a thicker cable. He could have said anything, and I wouldn't be any the wiser.
I don't think it matters whether I cut the RJ45 connector from the existing black cable or make the hole bigger. I will have to get the hole repaired (plus the 3 screw holes). So, I think I will get the hole made bigger and extract intact.

Cool, then that joiner you posted above, and a suitable length shielded Ethernet cable will be the easiest to do.

If the black cable is Cat 6 shielded, does it matter if the white cable attached to the joiner and access point is Cat 6A shielded?
Edit> Does it have to be shielded? For example, this is unshielded: Buy the Dynamix PLW-C6A-1 1m Cat6 White UTP Patch Lead (T568A Specification)... ( PLW-C6A-1 ) online - PBTech.co.nz

Chances are it's not a shielded cable - maybe look at the other end where it plugs into network switch / POE, does it have a metal connector there?
Either way, it's probably not a big deal to use non shielded at the AP end. So that cable will be fine, even a CAT5e cable will probably be just as good and more flexible. Here's a non-shielded joiner too:

Definitely no metal connector. Plus, I watched the cabler at the time. The cable has no markings and just thicker than all my cables I have, which came with various devices.
Thanks for your help.

Join the cable using some UY2 scotchloks
It creates a proper gel sealed punch down joint for each wire.
Then drill the cable through on the flat side of the AP roof mount
I normally strip back the outer sheath to make it more flexible (keeping the pairs twisted correctly) and then the excess can be pushed up into the hole through the ceiling as you mount it.
If done correctly, you shouldnt see the cable when standing on the floor
