Folks, folks...

Although it's interesting to share knowledge with other users I'm not supportive of simply placing a copy of a file on a server and distribute it.

I understand this file is used to make lots of devices work, device which otherwise would have no support at all. But one thing is to point to the server where the manufacturer makes it available to its users (making it public and anyone can download) and other thing is placing a file on a third party server.

I would ask people to refrain to put links to private servers and only point to the manufacturer's sites from now on.

on updating the widcomm driver i lose connection with mouse and keybord.

I find the mouse and keyboard using the setup wizard and pair them.

but still no 'real' connection ........paired but not connected....and it will not connect

well it connects for a second then disconnects....Does the ms keyboard have to initiate the pairing and if so how do you do that....

going into device manager and checking the UID profiles and keyboard and mouse....
it says everything is working fine but i cannot move my mouse or type :(

try 101 ways of diconnecting them and recoonecting them but to noavail :(

what am i doing wrong?......it seems ive done the hard part getting activesync to work!

If you right click the icon corresponding to the mouse or keyboard, can you see a "Connect" option?

I followed all the steps to fix my Microsoft bluetooth adapter, but the last one isn't working. Every time I try to update the drivers, it fails by saying the version I have is newer than the one I'm trying to install. What can I do?

I have a question. I am new here, but why are you good folk struggling with a keyboard and mouse that wont even function until the OS has booted? If you need to access the BIOS or if you need to go into safe mode or select an operating system on a machine with more than one installed, you have to hook up a standard keyboard! MS even makes good wireless keyboards that arent BT that work from boot.

Dont get me wrong I like BT and I use it for other things, just not my primary inupt devices. I tried the BT desktop and returned it after one day for the new wireless KB/Mouse that MS just came out with. I must say I like it alot.

Anyway I enjoy your site and the good info on here.

Lasher, I agree with your reasoning - I myself use a Logitech Wireless Keyboard and Mouse, bought four years ago. Works as a charm and it's just a radio transmitter, no Bluetooth involved.

I did try the MS Mouse and Keyboard, but for testing only. I think that as input devices they're very comfortable, but the technology does not justify the price tag.

Also, the Widcomm 1.4 drivers really just adds the HID profile, and I think it's not enough to try and use unreleased versions. But YMMV, of course.

I totally agree with you about the the fact that we are probably spending to much money on a product that doesn't seem to work perfectly.
But I have an Acer laptop (800LCiB) with internal bluetooth, and it's really cool to have a mouse and keyboard functioning without a dongle. Besides that its also practical, you have less things to carry around. And I have to add: when it works it works like a charm.

This is a strong enough list of reasons to use this them .
