other than the HS850 BT headset that pairs with my Moto RazrV3 in an instant, I have tried a 3com 3CRWB6096B BT PC Card, a Cambridge USB BT dongle, and a Socket model # 8510-00159 F1 CF BT card (so you can see I have invested some Benjamins in this endeavor) and have NEVER gotten my laptop to pair with my computer using any combo of these nor will any of the 3 pair and let me sync with my fone from my IBM x31 laptop (WinXPProSP2). I put on the IBM WIDCOMM BTW and that does NOT help. My fone is "seen" with the USB dongle and I can set up a security key but then nothing when I use Mobile Phone Tools to try to pair it for sync. I am so flummoxed! I wanna succeed with this before all my hair is gone!! I followed above guidelines in this forum and have not gotten my satisfaction. Help much appreciated!!

Why did you install the IBM software? You have to always use the device's own software, not third party. While there are some source around the Internet that offer downloads of such files, I do not recommend using them.

Also, stay away from 3COM. This will not work with anything.

The Socket, D-LINK, Bluetake and TDK are the ones with best support and chances to work.

Install the software and make sure to check our Bluetooth Guides on how to change between the Windows XP Service Pack 2 native Bluetooth support and the manufacturer's software.

Also check you firewall and anti-virus software - they do interfere with communications software in a nasty way.

I am having the same problem with Mobile Phone Tools (MPT), not able to sync with my phone via a bluetooth dongle. The BT software (IVT Bluesoleil) does see my phone (Moto V710) and my headset (Moto HS850), will even attempt to use the phone as DUN modem (doesn't connect due to password issues, but don't care, I only got the dongle to sync with MPT). I tried a different bt software by IOGear that I knew had Widcomm 1.4.2 drivers but that didn't even see the dongle so I removed it. Can anyone provide detailed instructions (in layman terms, I'm a geek apprentice) on getting this to work?
