Hi,

I have a Thompson TG585 v7 and I'm trying to connect from one of the ethernet ports to a small 8 port hub.  When I connect directly from the router to my PC everything works fine.  But when I connect through the hub I get no connection.  I've tried 2 different hubs and I've tried a crossover cable from the router to the hub all with no joy.

Any ideas?

Hi Warren, I truly hope you are infact using a ethernet switch not a hub, hubs went out with the arc and for very good reasons. What brand/model are you using. There should be no issues assuming everything is in working order.

lol, I have a little generic 8 port hub/switch. But I've also tried a Netgear 8 port switch. Both have the same result, no connection.

Hi, so the green connection led does not light on either the switch or router. From memory there is no method to disable the lan ports in the router, but it might pay to check.

But regardless, only a couple of days ago I setup a small office for a client with this router and a basic TP-Link 8port switch, all worked as expected.

Possibly you have a dud

I do get a connection led on the switch but I just can't seem to get an IP address allocated (I've also tried with a static which also doesn't work). I'll try swapping out the router and see what happens then.
