hi,

I have a network connecting to broadband cable (from ntl) where all pc's have the same ip. how can i give a specific pc on the network a unique ip, subnet mask and default gateway so it can be accessed by the outside world and use the pc as a server?

pc's all use DHCP, the current ip is 80.6.41.221, subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, default gateway is 80.6.41.254

im sorry, i know this isnt an ipaq related question but ive posted before on bluetooth internet connections and some of you guys are pretty smart when it comes to ip's.

cheers,

sam j

If you're connecting this internal LAN to the cable network using a router you can use a port configuration in the router - this should forward the incoming packets to a specific port (or range) into your internal IP. Of course it works only if the router supports this functionality.

Also you can have a domain assigned to your IP address (either fixed or dynamic) by using services like DynDNS.
