So today i brought myself a laptop and i would like to use it in conjunction with my PC. Problem is there's only one Ethernet cord in the room and Wireless hangs after 1 minute of use so ive given up on trying to get a clean signal/update firmware and deduced its simply broken. Right now im focused on trying to get my Thompson tg858v7 to work with my linksys ag300 and a router, problem is I cant understand the config.ini so can anyone help here?

I believe the 858 needs to bridge the connection but im just recalling Wikipedia articles

I think you need to describe your equipment, your network, and what you're trying to achieve in more detail. Generally with ADSL just plug a decent modem/WAP into the phone line, configure it, and you're good to go.

yes its the configuring part thats not being easy. My Modem is a Thomson TG858v7.
It currently is not co-operating in delivering a wireless signal consistently and so im not using the wifi on it.

I wish to use an old Linksys ag300 modem/router in Routermode to get the ethernet to both the computers but its obviously not that simple since i haven't stumbled across the solution yet.

I assume i need to change/add something to the config.ini for the tg858v7

The best thing to do is buy a decent modem/WAP, but you should be able to get it working. DD-WRT instructions are below, that'll give you the right idea even if you use stock firmware.

Basically you can't bridge a PPPoA connection which is what most DSL in NZ uses.

You can use half bridge/dhcp spoofing/ip extension but those are complicated to setup.

The simplest way to setup your Thompson tg858v7 (primary router) and your Linksys AG300 (secondary router) is in "WAN Bypass".
