Topic # 138825 17-Jan-2014 19:35 One person supports this post Send private message

I noticed when viewing my Freelancer account while logged out, my profile information (which should have been empty) had a bunch of made up information on it (i.e. saying I was an Android developer looking for work etc).

I thought this might have been a bug with the system showing me part of someone elses profile so I reported it to Freelancer, to which they responded.

Hi,

Thank you for contacting Freelancer.com Support.

The profile Summary shown in your freelancer profile is automated when a profile is not complete. You may ignore this or you can put some text in your Profile Summary to change what is written there. To change what is written in your Profile Summary, kindly go to Profile > View Profile. On your profile Summary, click "edit" to change it. You may just put any text to change the automated profile Summary shown in your account.

Should you have other concerns, please feel free to contact us back.

Sincerely,
Richel

I thought Freelancer was a pretty legit site until now.

If you're got a Freelancer account and haven't setup your profile find out if they have added any BS to your public profile by going to: http://www.freelancer.co.nz/u/YOUR-USERNAME-HERE.html

Really?Perhaps you ticked on something that said you were an android developer when you signed up, and it has therefore added that info as a sentence in your profile.

No definitely not, this is blatant go-out-of-you-way-to-scam-people scammery;

My "auto-generated" profile reads:

I want to work on your Android and Anything Goes jobs and projects. Over the past few years I have worked as a Android Developer and Anything Goes Helper for many global companies. I have great experience in these areas. I also have talent and sound experience in Computer Security and Desktop Support and have also worked as a DNS Technician. I feel I can benefit your jobs as I will deliver work of the highest quality. I am ready to start work for you now.

Which is all complete BS.
