Hi all,

Does anyone know of any local retailers for these two brands?

Failing that, wheres the best place to buy online?

Here's the models I'm interested in:

ChannelTen are the local Axis distributors in NZ. You can forget about buying stuff from them unless you're a registered company with a security licence. You'll probably find any other reseller has the same requirement of a security licence.

I know billgates was reselling some Dahua products in NZ. If you're only after a single camera your best bet is the usual Asian online sellers. I've bought in a lot of this kit, and there is a thread on here discussing the Dahua kit that'll give you some options.

Why are AXIS cameras only available to those with a security license?
We use heaps of them for various security and non-security purposes

Hi. I sell Dahua, Hikvision & Sony CCTV (IP/digital only) gear in NZ.

I sell the Dahua IPC-HFW2100 (3.6mm lens) for NZ$250 incl GST with a 2 year warranty.

Dahua IPC-HDBW3100 is priced at just above $400. Better off to look at Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I which is a 3MP vandal proof dome camera. Cost of Hikvision is NZ$499 + GST with a 2 year warranty. I have to buy these from the sole distributor allowed to sell Hikvision gear in NZ hence the price but it's also 3MP and vandal proof dome.

sbiddle - The Hikvision's can record to a NAS via NFS :-)

Do whatever you want to do man.

It is a requirement under NZ law that anybody selling and installing security equipment has a security licence or be a registered electrician.

Thanks guys.

I must admit I find the rules (not that I know specifically what they are) around selling (and therefore buying) "security" equipment a bit frustrating - I had the same issue when trying to buy a Bosch alarm panel earlier in the year - which I was eventually able to do (and install myself). I guess different people interpret the rules differently. I personally dont have an issue buying from a company/individual with a security license, but the trick is figuring out which one sells the kit you want to buy (as opposed to the kit they want to sell) - and then being able to buy when you are not in the trade (i.e. many places are trade/wholesalers only).

I guess places like DSE and Jaycar have security licenses because they sell alarms and security cameras but just not the ones I want to buy - and you'd think that if you can buy a security camera or alarm from DSE, you could pretty much buy one from anywhere.

Anyway, @billgates - do you have anything in the form factor of the Axis m3113ve - i.e. wall mount dome? I want one for the front porch - to mount above the door. I dont really want to use a standard dome on an arm here.

Cheers,
